Discussing the prelblem of farm helrp shortage at a meeting in Newâ€" market last week W. R. Reek, dep- uty minister of Agriculture advised farmers to dlevelop neighbourly co- operation. The oldl practice of “changing hellp" is not in as genâ€" eral practice as in the good old days. “Nok, you can’t go wrong,” he said, after explaining. “You take 'th~Es hammer and! I’l’l hold the wheel ‘and‘ when I nod my head, you hit it!” He was a very ra-w recruit, and the sergeant c.alzl-e:d him in to help with a little repair job. Into the Ed‘itox“s office stallked a very big man. “You the Editor of this ra-g?” he snapped. “I am, -butâ€"” “'Well, my name is Knowles E. Blnimps. Charles Robinson and George Burns, breezed into WalkeI’tOn from Hamilton with their pockets full of printed cards headed; “A Crippl‘e’s Appeal,” aan put on a fake limping stunt that was such a torture to gaze upon that sightâ€"seers‘ were sup- posed to reach into their pockets and extract some silwer images of the king to assist theSe distressed guys to get by. as a cricket on his feet and that any appeals for he‘hp because of p001‘ ground-wm‘k was the phoneyes’c sturff off the records. His fat companion, George Burns, aged 63, who was pulling a similar stunt on the other side of the street, and handing out “‘Crippie Appeal" cand-s when there was nothing wrong with hi§ dogs, was likewise picked up and escorted to the cooleT. Grant presided: and Mr. Thomas Newton acted as secretary. The reports from the different departments of the church’s work showed that the past year had been the m05t prosperous for some time. The report of the session showed a large addition to the membership of the church, also an) increased attendance at the salb- bath services.
