Alice Josephine Marsh was :1 daughter of the late John Marsh and Elizabeth Broley and was born at Thamesville, June 2nd, 1861. In her early childhood she came to live with her uncle, the late Alex Marsh, who lived on the farm now the 5352‘ of the Dunlap Observatory. On De- cember 2'lst, 1866 she was married to Mr. J. Scott McNair and her life since then has been spent on the Vaughan Township farm where the funeral was held Monday. Deeply devoted to her home, the late Mrs. MczNair was an ardent lover of nature and her hobbies were her garden, her flowers and birds. She took great joy from the beauty of her garden and all things of nature, and her mild and kindly disposit’m endeared her to many friends who knew the warmth and sincerity of her friendship. Scott McNair of Vaughan Township was held from her late residence Bath- urst Street, Monday afternoon and was largely attended by friends and relatives. The late Mrs. McNair passed peacefully away at the resi- dence of her daughter Alice, at 305 Riverside Drive, Toronto, on Friday- September 4th after an illness of several months. The funeral service Monday was conducted by Rev. C. B. Brethen of Richmond Hill United church of which the deceased was a member and in- terment followed at Maple Ceme- tery. The pall bearers were six nephews, John and Bert McCrae of Longford. Fred Vanderburgh of To- ronto, Gordon Marsh of Islington, Colin Hood and David Brown of Markham Township.
