The bride was given- in marriage by her father. Mrs. E. J. Jones was matron of hen- our while Mr. Phillip Jones, brother of the bride, was best man. Colclloug‘hr read the marriage vows. iKing Township ' District News Mr. Phillip Bridgeman was knock- 6d] down and nun over by a car on the lower third concession while as- sisting Leonard Shiropshire to ex- tricate the car from the depths of the muddy road on Saturday last. The machine suddenly backed as it; became free and‘ fortunately struck a stone, thus averting a complete smash. Mr. Bridgeman suffered bruises and three stitches in a hip wound. Misses Isobel Walkington of King, Elizabeth. Hughey of Oak Ridges and Doris Greer of Kettleby have enter- ed Toronto Normal School for tea- cher’s training. Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Misses Hilda Patton of King and Mildrred Folliott of Temperanceville attended the ‘5i0'th anniversary of Wesley United Y.P.U. held on Sept. 20th and 2lst. As president of the local‘ Presbytery Miss Patton bmught greetings from the Presbytery Un- ion. For 50 summers and winters Wesley Young People’s Union has carried on continuously, and is prob- ably the only Y.P.U. of the United Church in Canada to achieve such distinction. Fonner members are distributed across Canada, one, the Rev. Hawtin, having served for many years as missionary in India, under the Presbyterian church. In a recent address before Laskay Y.P.U. Mrs. W. Finch likened each individual to a small segment of the map of life. If we live honestly and fully those after us may reap the benefits of our experience as map makers of life. A memorial service was recently held within the W.M.iS. of Sic-hom- berg United Church for the late Mrs. (Rev.) Mc-Ewen. Her fine life of service will leave its lasting- mark on many lives. lMiss Hilda Patton addressed King United W.M.S. pointing out the value of christian education and knowledge in understanding the peo- ples of other nations. The new order of tomorrow will depend: on the re- spect and tolerance instilled into oul‘ youth in their regard for the youth of other countries. Evelx‘l‘ey School has elected Junior Red Crrss officers: Gordon Meslley, president; Carl Cadden, secretary; Danny Cl‘Osvsley, treasurer. Eversley Presbyterian W. M. S. packed the annual bale last week. Mus. R. Farren gave a paper dealing with the harvest that is gathered unto the Lord from exemplary lives, good: deeds, kind' words and faith- fulness.
