This game will not affectl the play~off berths, but will be a preview of what the fairs can exâ€" pect to see when the play-offs comâ€" mence as these two teams will battle it out in a three game series to see who will tackle Woodbridge. league leaders, for the J. E. Smith, M.P., trophy. President Charlie Rowutree has yet not set the dates for the playâ€" offs but it is expected that the first round will be completed next Week as the O.A.L.A. are anxious for a winner to be (lectured as soon as pessible. Lunch Breakfast Dinner Open Evenings. l:~ :;n e.‘-:L‘iting- lacrosse game at; the Richmond Hill Arena last Thur5~ day night the local lads were defeat- ed by the Maple boys to the tune iii tose first Game The first girls’ softball game in quite a number of years was played on the local diamond last Thursday night between RCOC girls of Aurora and the irewly formed Richmond Hill team. As was anticipated the local girls were no match for the opposi- tion and the visitors walked away with a 20â€"3 (lecisiou. The Hill girls were somewhat nerâ€" vous for: their first game and took the defeat with a grin nnrl deter- mined to do better next time. The highlight of the local team was the pitching of CatharineMacAr‘thur,.14- yearâ€"old public school girl. She pitched superb ball throughout the entire game and struck out several batters. With a few more games and better support from the other members of the team this girl would be classed with the best in the couri- try. She had perfect control of the ball at all times and allowed only two batters ~to get a base on balls. The other members of the team showed their nervousness and made several errors but this will be elim-‘ inated with a few more games. Two casualties occurred. Diana Andrews playing third base received a broken finger and Dorothy Costoff the catcher, neglecting to wear a mask, received some badly bruised eves. Everyone will be behind this teami in the future and it appears as if' Richmond Hill might develop some smart girls‘ softball players before many years have passed. This Thursday night the girls will' be hosts to the league leaders of the UTILITY CAN ’ This Solidly Constructed Can be used for any purpose . . The first two periods saw Map]:- take a commanding hold of the game were in for a sound trouncing. the end of the second period the score stood 6-1 for Maple. The Hill boys came out in the third stanza with renewed energy and forced the battle from then on and in the final stage of the game held their Oppon- ents down to two goals while they accounted for four. Norm Stunden was the Hill’s out- standing player accounting for four of his team's counters and with a little more practice might easily _ have made it several more. Dougl Moore netted the Hill’s other goalu In this game the Hill team were minus several of their best players and if they ever have the fortune to get a complete team together might make it interesting for the other aggregations. l’s Softball Team HARDBALLNOTES, In the finals of the local [ions Club Midget hardball series between Aurora and Richmond Hill the ser- ies stands at a game apiece with both teams wmning on their home diamond. Early last week the Richmond Hill boys were defeated at Aurora ‘ny the lopâ€"sided score of 20â€"4 and the gum: looked as if the Aurora lads might take the series in a walk. Not to be outâ€"done last Friday night at the local diamond the Hill boys turned the. tables on the visitors.and de- feated them by the score of 4-1. In this game Norm Stunden pitched and allowed only two hits during the entire seven innings.
