Houck who predeceased her 22 years'agO. She was born at Richmond Hill June 19, 1856 and lived with her parents (the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Quantz) and her brother (the late Mr. Harvey Quantz). Duringr their life time they kept store at North Gwill‘imbury, Keswick and Aurora. They lived privately for some time at Buttonville. From there they moved to Cashel and took up farm- ring at Rose Hill farm for a number of years. Martha attended Melville publie school and was a member of Peache’s church. She was a memâ€" ber of the choir there, played the organ and taught Bible class. The Quantz’ retired from the farm taking up residence in their Rich- mond Hill cottage. In the (lawn of 1888 Martha was united in marriage to Mr. John W. Houck of Cashel where they took up farming: on the Houck homestead. They attended and were members of Melville Pres- byterian Church (United in 1925). Their family of four children were brought up on the farm and in the church and school. After her husband‘s death Mrs. Houck and her daughter Edna 1e- tired to Glen Rose at Cashel, leav- ing her son Harvey to carry on the work on the farm. She was an ard- ent lover of flowers, music an’i books. In her late years she spent much time with her scrap books and needle work and also enjoyed writ- ing and receiving letters from her children and friends. MRS. M. J. HOUCK PASSES IN 92ND YEAR She leaves to mourn her passine' her son Harvey Houck; her three daughters, Edna (Mrs. Benson MV- ers) who cared for her mother in her declining years. Lloyd Tate of Orangeville; Earlyne (Mrs. Carl Hoover) of Markham; Harvey and Neil Tate; Irene, Marion and Ruby Puterbaug-h. Two great grandchild- ren, Connie Tate and Carol Hoover. also survive. Miss Velma Findlay. Mrs. Minfon and sons enjoyed a 1200 milemotor trip last week through Northern On- tario calling on Mrs. Minton’s fathâ€" er and returning via Ottawa. Tenders will be called for the leas- ing of Aurora arena as a private en- terprise for 1947-48 following the unanimous approval of Aurora town council last week to a report moved by Councillors John Sisman and Thomas Swindle. The recommenda- tion called for ample provision for free time for the schools and Sunâ€" day skating in the contract to be drawn, and also asked for full pro- tection from damage to the arena.
