Friends of the community scarcely need to be reminded of the fine work accomplished by this organization which will soon be celebrating: its fiftieth anniversary, but for the bene- fit of newcomers, the Institute has been sponsoring a French child through the Save the Children Fund for the past two or three years. Parcels of delicacies have been mail- ed at various times to this child who contracted tuberculosis during -the war years. Other parcels of food and clothing have been sent to Eng- land, and donations have been sent to such organizations as The Salva- tion Army. Shut-ins and sick have been visited and sent cards, flowers, etc. and those in need have been helped. In view of the fact that all of these activities can only be car- ried out when sufficient funds are available, the members organize this annual sale to raise thelneeded money and at the same time assist the com- munity in its purchase of Christmas gifts.
