W.. l’lwne 39W Toronto The Local Association met recently at the home of Mrs. A. Armstrong. Plans fior acquiring and furnishing a Guide Room were discussed and a Theatre Night in February was pro- posed. Mrs. Charles SWeeney has been appointed Acting Captain by the Commissioner and Mrs. Stock as ‘ne of the Lieutenants. v Catherine Smith was highly domumended for Throughout the Province there is at the present great activity in the Guide movement. One evidence of this is the formation of the Division of York to include the Districts of Newmarket, Aurora, Oak Ridges, Richmond Hill. T‘hornhill and Will- owdale, in each of which there are flourishing Guide Companies and Brownie Packs. It is expected ,that Mrs. Gunn of Oak Ridges will be ap- pointed Divisional Commissioner. Plans are already under discussion for the acquisition of our own Divis- ional Camp Site. During the past year the commis- sioner has attended four enrolment cerenionies in the Brownie Pack, vis- ited Guides at camp at Hawkestone; and along with the Guiders and mem- bers of the Local Association attend- ed Area Conference in Barrie and Oshawa. Our Area oCmmissioner is Mrs. Howden, wife of the rector of St. Michael’s and All Angels, Toron- to Our Area extends north to Par- ry Sound and east to Oshawa. The Local Association wishes to pay tribute to the excellent work of our Brown Owl, Mrs. Markey, who is now being assisted by Mrs. Neils Andersen. he 01 the Lieutenants. patnerme Smith was highly Gem-mended for :arrying‘ on as Acting Captain Since Miss Holmes returned to Victoria in he summer. Miss Smith is not yet 31d enough to hold a Lieutenant’s he summer 31d enough warrant. The prospects for Guiding in our District are very bright. I should like to remind the mothers of Guides and Brownies that helpfulness and ser- vice is the core of this great internaâ€" tional sisterhood and that every op- portunity they give their girls “to help others, especially those at home” will help our Guides and" Brownies to live up to their solemn promise. From the small groups: family, the Brownie six, the Guide Company, a Guide develops her loyalty and it grows out to include all races and creeds in this great Association. 'It is however, only through a genuine }irl Guide Notes TELEPHONE 177 SWeeney has ‘ Captain by Al's.
