Nothing else will do! Correspondent: Norm McDermott, Phone Richmond Hill 3641-13 The East Vaughan Ratepayers Association held its regular meet- ing last Thursday evening in the Richvale school basement. The important item of the meeting was the report of Mr. Cyril Baker on the mammoth raffle for the Hill- man-Minx motor car. The report was very satisfactory, so much so in fact that the building fund of the community hall was enriched to the tune of close to four hun- dred dollars. A very hearty vote of thanks was extended to Mr. Baker for his proï¬table time and trouble in the interests of the community, to which we add our own congratula- tions. As a direct result of the raffle it is felt the coffers are in a pos- ition to direct some effective work on the community hall and to this end the building committee have been instructed to obtain estimates on completing the erection of the walls. Could be that next year we shall see the hall take its place in the service of the community. Scouts and Cubs Well â€"- well. If there is any- one in the district who doubts the existence of a Boy Scout and Cub troop in Richvale they will be quite aware of this fact after next Saturday. Next Saturday is “Ap- ple Day†and it is the ambition of the Troop to have every man, wo- man and child in Richvale munching a MacIntosh Red â€" yessir. For the most part the boys are an independent self-supporting group, in fact it is part of their creed that they will be as small a burden as possible to their fellow citizens, rather their object is to be an asset and a help to the com~ munity. One day a year, however, they become salesmen â€" salesmen of one of the best of Canada’s prod- ducts â€" the apple. Indeed this is a worthy service and a money saver too for at to-day’s prices for doctor’s services, what a nice way to keep him away. Girl Guides and Brownies Even though the boys are doing their best to cause a disturbance at the weekly meetings of the girls the Guides and Brownies are doing very favourably indeed. The boys had better watch their step or they may be in rather warm water â€" fair warning to heed, eh lads. This Thursday evening the L0- cal Mothers Association of the girls will hold a meeting at the residence of Mrs. R. Paul, 187 Spruce Avenue at 8.30 pm. Moth- ers of the girls or any other lady interested in the group will be most welcome. Just putting type on paper isn’t printing as we understand it. Style counts. L. Bond’s jury, which sat on Thursday evening. According to the evidence of sev- eral witnesses, \Curtis drove his motor in front of the car, and the motorman was unable to st0p in time to avert an accident.†“In drawing attention to the progress which is being 'made along Yonge Street and other parts of York County near the city, the Toronto Globe says: ‘Richmond Hill will double in pop. ulation in the next ï¬ve years if the increase continues at its pres- ent rate!
