Township of Markham EDGELEY Miss Anne Young and Mr. David Hall of Toronto visited over the holiday with Mr. and Mrs. Ken Walker. At the evening service, Rev. Peter Gordon White, B.A., of Tor- onto will be the guest preacher. The service of praise will be under the leadership of the Ambassador Quartette also from Toronto. A hearty invitation is extended to all to attend these services. Rev. P. J. Lambert, B.A., B.D., will be the speaker at the morning service of Maple United Church} on Sunday. He will be assisted by the church choir with Mrs. R. Clegg at the organ and Mrs. E. Brown, soloist. The Junior choir of twenty-one voices was under the leadership of Mrs. Wm. Woods‘who presided at the organ. Jill Nufeld sang a fitting solo. All musical numbers were greatly appreciated. Maple United Anniversary Rally and Promotion Day was held in Maple Sunday School on Sunday, October 16. Mr. M. J. Kinnee, the superintendent pre- sided. The special speaker for the occasion was Mr. Carter of Toron- to, whose works were brought home in a very real way to his listeners through the medium of Lights. In this he was assisted by six boys of the Sunday School. The service of praise was led by the Junior Choir who brought a delightful message of song. They were under the leadership of Mrs. Huls with Mrs. Gordon Orr pre- siding at the organ. Maple United Church He was assisted by three child- ren who read the Scripture lessons. Mrs. P. J. Lambert was the spec- ial speaker at the service and brought a fitting message for the day. ' Mr. Gordon Orr, superintendent of the Sunday School of Hope Un- ited Church presided at the Rally Day service in the church on Sun- day. St. Andrew’s Church will ac closed Sunday, October 23, owing to anniversary services at Maple United Church. Sunday School will be held at the Manse at 1.30 p.m. Please note these changes. Hope United Church On Sunday, October 16, St. Anâ€" drew’s Church, Maple, celebrated its 120th anniversary. Services were conducted morning and ev- ening- by Dr. J. A. Ross of Wood- bridge. His' sermons “Filling the Gap" and “Taking Things for Granted’ were much appreciated by congregations which filled the church to capacity. The chou' of High Park Presbyterian Church was present on both occasions and its well chosen numbers added greatly to the enjovnmnt of "the day. Don't forget the Bazaar' at Edgeley on October 29. The regular meeting of Maple Women’s Institute was held in Maple Villa, Wednesday evening, October 12. ~ We were honoured with two guest speakers â€" Mrs. Baty who spoke on “Citizenship” and Mr. -Horton of the Depart- ment of Education, showing slides “This is Our Canada” and “Ballot Boxes” which were both interesting and educational. In closing Mrs. B‘aty urged us to listen every Thursday evening to Citizen For- um over the C.B.C. network. Cur- rent events were given by Mrs. F. S. Rumble. Hunnisett, B.A., was the guest preacher and in his own inimitable way brought a message long to be remembered. He was assisted by a choir of seventeen voices who rendered two anthems, and by Mrs. Kerr- Taylor, who rendered in beautiful voice the sacred number “The Stranger of Galilee.” Mrs. Elmer Stong presided at the organ.
