AF’I‘ER'CHUROH SERVICE Mr. and Mrs. Louis Demers and family, Yonge St. Richmond Hill are spending the Christmas holi- day in Timmins, Mr. Douglas Scotchmer, who is attending Erskine College, South Carolina, is spending the holiday season with his parents on Rose- view Ave. Mr. and Mrs. Douga] Gray and Miss Marian Gray of Parkhill and Mr. Howard Datars of Dashwood spent a couple of days with Mr. and Mrs. L.' W. Zuefelt, Mrs. W. F. Wrixon wishes to take this means of thanking her many friends and neighbours for their love and kindness to her during her recent illness, through accident. She appreciated, more than words can tell, the many cards, letters, flowers, fruit and other good things, sent by friends, neighbours, Church and other or- ganizations. It is said that “every cloud has its silver lining." The silver linging in this case, which was very bright, being all the kind thoughts, words and acts of so many friends. Mr. and Mrs. David Lamb, vis- ited their son, Mr. Donald Lamb and family in Woodstock over the holiday week-end. Miss Betsy Lewis who is with the British Embassy in Washing- ton is visiting her brother, Mr. Goron Lewis, Hunt‘s Lane, Mr. Harry eid, manager of Brathwaite ardware, and Mrs. Reid have moved into their new residence in the Greenholme Apartments, Richmond Hill. Members of the staff of the Richmond Theatre were guests of Manager Ned Hill at a party at Bettles’ Coffee Shop after the closing of the theatre on the Thursday before Christmas. SUNDAY SCHOOL CONTEST BEGINS MASONIC HALL RICHMOND HILL Held in “We can’t understand how you had enough money left over af- ter Christmas to get married", said friends who are helping Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dale celebrate their 64th wedding anniversary on December 26. Married in 1886 in London, England, Mr. and Mrs, Dale came to Canada in 1913. They have a family of four, two daughters and two sons. One daughter, Mrs. W. M. Martin, lives in California while Mrs. Sid. Cropley, with whom the couple reside is a resident of Richmond Hill. The sons, Frank and Will- iam, are in Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Dale have altogeher nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. His trade as a butcher, as well as being a mem- ber of the Snodland Fire Brigade while in London, kept all of\Mr. Dale’s time occupied. He had the privilege of making sausages for Queen Victoria. Later in Canada he established a store on College St. ' Although still fond of the old country Mr. Dale said “We have never wanted to go back to Eng- land â€"- we are quite satisfied and happy in Canada.” In speaking of his home in London Mr, Dale men- tioned that he was the owner of the first motor car in the County of Kent. The car had but one cylinder and wasn’t powerful en- ough to go up even a small hill. “We had to wait at the bottom of the hill until a horse and wagâ€" on came along to pull us up the grade. . At the young ages of 86 and 85, Mr. and Mrs..Dale are living a quiet but full life. They receiv- ad many bouquets of flowers and congratulatory notes on their an- niversary and were visited by Many firends who wished them many more years of happiness.
