At first he only operated in summer months. He carried on this service for sev- en years, then sold out and bOught a trucking business, which he ran until ill health forced him to give it up. S. No. 3 Vaughan was held In the school on Wedneday evening, Mr. Brian Bailey was chairman and Mr. Gil- bert Whittamore secretary for the meeting. There were 26 parents present. Mr. Bill Ferguson gave the treasurer’s report, also the in- spector’s report of the teacher and these were approved. It was dec- ided that the insurance be increas- ed by $3,000, Considerable dis- cussion took place onthe enlarging of the school or a new school. Mrs. Miller moved, seconded by Mrs. Bailey, that the trutsees call a meeting with the inspector or any- one who would and could give any information to clarify the accom- modation of Carrville School as soon as possible. Mr. R. Miller moved, seconded by Mr. Roy Baker, that the teacher’s salary be increased $200 from January to June. Moved by Mrs, Middleton and seconded by Mrs. Miller that; the caretaker receive an extra $5 a. month for January, February and March. The resignation of Trustee Bill Ferguson was accepted, due to the fact he leaves the community in the spring. Election of trustees saw Mr. Jack Barton elected for three years and Mr. Brian Bailey for two years. A vote of thanks was given to Mr. Bill Ferguson for Unis work and time given in the interests of the school. Eugene Percival Quantz, a high- ly esteemed citizen of Richmond Hill died in Toronto General Hos- ‘pital Monday, January 1, after a few hours illness. He was sud- denly stricken with a heart attack in the early morning- hours and was immediately taken to the hosâ€" pital where he passed away about six o’clock. E. P. Quantz The late Mr. Quantz was born on the second of Markham, in the year 1876, a son of Arthur Quantz and Margaret Linklater, of United Empire Loyalist stock. His family was one ,of the first four families to settle in the township and the crown deed of the property was in possession of the family until the death of his parents in 1922. He farmed ‘on the second of Markham until the farm was ex- propriated for the Toronto Jail Farm, and worked there as farm manager until the property was taken ovei' by the Ontario Govern- ment in 1939, at which time he fe- tired on pension. ' V_ A resident of Richmond Hill since 1914, he built his late resi- ‘flieme ‘on Roseview Avenue in that year, when there were but three houses on the street. In recent years he has engaged in carpentry work and was wide- ly known and highly respeCted by all with whom he came in contact. He was married to Alice Lang- staff McDonald, who survives, also two brothers, Karl in Winnipeg and Elmo in Belle Ewart, and one sis- ter_ Mrs. Ella Bird of _Toronto. ,The funeral was held from' his late residence Wednesday afterâ€" noon and the service was conduct- ed by Rev. C. B. Brethen of Rich- mond Hill United Church. Inter- ment was in Richmond Hill Ceme- tery, the pall bearers being R. Cut- tance, Bert Cook, Fred Hoover, Morley Hall, William Tyndall and W. B.
