Langstafl’ Pee Wees and Rich- vale Pee Wees played a good game of hoekey at Thornhill Park on Monday afternoon and Richvaie had a slight edge. Langstafi' goals were scored by Richard Charles and Jimmy Betts. Richvale goals were scored 2 by Bobby Martin and one by Gary Stamp. Final score was 3 to 2 in favour of Richvale. A large Communon Service took place last Sunday morning at the Thornhill United Church. There were 17 new members received, 14 on transfer froxn other churches and 3 on profession of faith. In the evening a religious film, “Child of Bethlehem”, was shown and was very much enjoyed. Mrs. Helen Burke was soloist at both services.- » Next Sunday there will be a secial Baptismal Service at 4 o’- clock in the afternoon. Ladies Guild The Ladies Guild met in the Sun- day School Hall on‘Thursday even- ing. Mrs. R. Wesley, retiring pres- ident, opened the meeting and then called on Rev. E. E. Kent k in- stall the officers for the new year. It was decided by the Guild to hold a bee to varnish the new Primary chairs purchased by the Junior Congregation. A delegation frOm the Woman’s Association presented I! the‘matter of catering for the Lions' suppers and it was decided to alternate monthly with them in taking care of the meals. Mrs. J. Robinson of Buttonville was present ad showed slides of near and far. Afternoon Auxiliary (W.M.S.) The Afternoon Auxiliary (W.M. S.) met at the home of Mr. C. P‘ Johns on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. J. The “Thing” is now under way and up to the present is proving very successful. On January 12, Mr. and Mrs. R. Littleford held a surprise birthday party for Mr. A. Ball of Yonge- burst Road. The new year has shown a good attendance at Troop meetings which have now reverted to' Wed- nesday evenings from 7 p.111. to 9 pm. A very cordial invitation is extended to all .parents to call in and see what goes on at 3 Scout meeting. A very noticeable increase} in en- thusiasm for badge work is appar- ent and on January 10 Peter Zin- kan, Ronnie Hicks. Annual registration takes place at the end of the month and due to the waiting list only boys who nave attended at least five meetings In the past two months will be regis- etered unless the Scoutmaster is notfied of any boy’s intentioq to return to the Troop in the near fu- ture.
