The board decided to defer ac- tion for a, further short period in order to make a last atttmpt to see if other sites were available, even though they agreed that an exhaustive search had already been made. A former Richmond Hill hockey player joined the ranks of the pro- fessionals last Saturday night when Bob Hassard signed a contract with Toronto Maple Leafs. Hassard, a Toronto boy, played on the forward line with the Hill team some years ago, first in the minor bantams and then in the bantams in the Toronto Hockey League. Also, he stated, resi- dents of Highland Park sub-divis- ion were paying for services through the extra charge imposed on water secured from North York Township and that this money might as well accrue to Markham Township. “There will be other sections in the same position as We go along," he added. “I agree,” said Councillor James. “If we have to do it for Elmwood Park we might as well do it for the whole thing.” “Wouldn’t it be as well for us to have someone experienced come in and tell us just what is involved?” asked Reeve Win. Timbers. Coun- cillors spent some time discussing township engineering, with some expressing the belief that the time was close at hand when the muni- cipaity would save money and be more efficiently served if it had its own engineer, or at least shared the services of an engineer with a [neighbouring municipality.
