Mrs. Eleanor Brown, at the Robert Simpson Co. Ltd., an Hon- or Graduate of the Parsons School of Design. was the guest speaker and showed slides of the Fashion in Furniture. Mrs. Brown said “that we want our homes to be charming and still be a place where we can relax. There is a return to the use Of wallpaper but in quieter tones. Pictures are being used again but in orderly groupings together on one wall. The trend is toward larger, more comfortable furniture and taller table lamps for better illumination. Since houses are muah mama today, we must make every room count and this has led to the plan- ning of dual purpose rooms. l‘he dining room has been put to great- er use by this dual purpose idea and serves as a library, study, sewing room and also as a tele- vision room. In choosing colour for the home, the colours one likes to wear should be used â€" colour should give life to the rooms. The modern bath- room shows the use of lots of col- our â€"â€" plenty of built-ins and van- ity dresser. With the scarcity of w001, a new idea in carpets made from cotton, wool and rayon has been develop- ed. Rubber tile, mastic tile or the various marbled floor coverings are considered to be in good taste for every room in the house.” Mother’s Day Tea It was decided to have a Moth- er’s Day Tea and Baking Sale on Saturday, May 12, in the Public School Auditorium. Donations have been received from the T. Eaton Co. and Robt. Simpson Ltd. for lucky draws at this tea. Mrs. A. L. Phipps, in her usual happy manner, presented Mrs. G.
