Picnic Planned The regular business of the monthly meeting included the we]- coming of Mrs. Sidie' a visitor from Scotland who had brougnt a number of copies of the Scottish Home and Country Institute mag- azine for' the members. It was decided that Thornhill should be represented at the forth- coming conference for conveners at Guelph and in the event either Mrs, T. Empring‘ham or Mrs. W. Harris could not attend the district dime- tor/Mrs. A. Seeley was appointed to deputize. Mrs. Harris’ report included reassuring and latest news of the progress of Derry Giles, Mrs. Reynolds and Mrs. W. Robinson. The annual reports showed that teh branch has 59 members and a very satisfactory financial report was read by the acting secretary in the absence through illness of Mrs. J. Cooke. The conveners reports revealed that each phase of the work had been presenth to the members either by excellent guest speakers or by the convenors themselves. Talks which were con- sidered exceptionally outstanding included that on education by Mrs. G. Crutcher and on community af- fairs by Rev. E. E. Kent. Mr. Charles Smith is confined to his home having been taken 11 Brownies and Guides The Guides and Brownies and their Leaders, wish to express their appreciation to the ladies of the community for the interest and coâ€"operation which the girls have met as they have canvassed for orders for their annual Cookie Day. A total of 361 orders were recelv- ed by the Guides and 735 by the Brownies and these will be deliv- ered on Saturday, May 12, some- time in the morning or earl, af- ternoon. The Guide to obtain the highest number of orders was Joan Wade with 66, Sylvia Thorneyeroft being second with 41. Highest to- tals made by the Brownies were Helen McNeice 47, Bonny Robert- son 46 and Ann Metcalfe 44, the Imps being the Six that sold the most. Brown O-wl is taking the Imps and the first three girls to the Museum on Saturday. Captain Joyce Healey has been awarded her Camp Certificate. This was presented to her at a recent meeting by District Commissioner Mrs. John E. MacNeil. York Division Camp. to which the Thornhill Groups go, has been arranged for July 27 to August 9 and will be held this year in the Haliburton Region, 2 miles from Wilberforce.
