A very interesting let- ter was read from Rev. D.C. Wick- enden, principal of Shingwauk In- dian Residential School at Sault Ste. Marie, thanking the ladies for the clothing sent to a student whom the W. A. supports. Rev. D.C.H. Michell sent out to all members of the congregation a letter regarding church exten- sion This was read at the meet- ing to emphasize the need for help to this cause. The church extension fund is to help provide churches in new districts which are rapidly building up and where church people find themselves miles away from their “former church home and where both churches and church schools are sorely needed. Mr. Michell not only appealed for financial aid for the cause but to all Anglicans in the district to attend divine service and to bring their children up in a Christian manner by setting them a gOOd example. The chief business of the meeting was the plans for the strawberry supper to be held on the church lawn Tuesday, June 26, at 5 p.m. Attended 7.7th General Assembly Rev. C. H. Bowman, as commis- sioner, Mrs. C. H. Bowman and Mr. and Mrs. Archie Cameron as visitors, attended last week, meet- ings of the 77th General Assem- bly of the Presbyterian Church of Canada, held in Ottawa. There was a good attendance of members from Maple Branch of the Women’s Ins'tit'ute at the Dis- trict Annual of West York Wo- men’s Institutes, which was held in Thistletown Hall on Tuesday, June 12. A pleasant and profitable time spent. in the capital city was re- ported.~ During the trip east the. weather was ideal, affording a fine view of crops which in most parts look very promising. In the city, visits to the Assem- bly meetings as well as to the Senate, House of Commons, mint, experimental farm, em, proved most interesting. Disuict Annual West York W.I Splendid rébo‘r‘ts were given by Standing Committees from eléven branches of the district. The big objective is to raise sufficient money for a scholarship fund. The theme for the evening was Home Economics. Roll call was answer- ed by a written household hint. Motto “The father’s kingdom, the child’s paradise, the mother’s world,” was taken by Mrs. P. Will- ows. The topic was taken by Mrs. W. Baker of Buttonville. The anniversary services of the Sunday School were held on June 17. In the afternoon, the Rev. Levi Atkinson of Uxbridge addressed the children with special music be- ing furnished by the Wesley choir of Vandorf. In the evening the music was fur- nished by the Washington United Church choir, Kingston Road which was much enjoyed by all. A very challenging message was delivered by Rev. M. R. Jenkinson of King City United Church. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Leedy, Al» ilene, Kansas, called on Rev. P. J. Wiebe on Tuesday. A Rev.
