Baseball, games and races Were featured at the annual Sunday School picnic held on Tuesday, July 10. The church grounds were filled with laughter and squeals of de- light as the games and races got underway. Many children took home prizes won in the various ev- ents; others just the memory of a happy day. After supper a treasure hunt for both the children and the parents brought the day to a close. The weatherman was good to them when he supplied a warm bright day for their picnic. Martha MacNeil is delighted to a two Week vacation are Mr. and Mrs. W. Lennox and Mr. and Mrs. F. Kirby of Arnold Avenue have just returned from a motor trip to Miami, Florida, and Mr. and Mrs. Martha McNeil is delighted to have as her guests her two cousins Dona and Nancy MacNeil who en- joyed their first trip by air when they flew from New York to Tor- onto. The girs are already enjoy- F Wyton with their two children Barbara and Don, who enjoyed a motor trip to New Brunswick. The Lamberts and Blackburns picnicked at Wilcox Lake on Tues- day. The boys certainly enjoyed the boat rides. A euchre is being held on Tues- day evening, July 17, under auso pices of the Canadian Legion Bobbie Blackburn celebrated his 8th birthday with a party on July 11. Guests attending were: Grant and Larry Fryer, Garry Davis,-Ray Meyer, Butch and Michael Lambert, Warren Hopper, Skip MacKenzie, Dean Wainwright and Bruce and Barry Blackburn. A family re-union of the Lam- bert Clan was held in the form of a picnic at Orono Park on Sunday last. About 70 relatives attended. The Blackburns joined the happy group. Canadian Legion branch 375, held a very successful Bingo on Wednesday evening in the new hall, Edgar Avenue. The prizes were plentiful and certainly well worth winning. 7Wwa4$aw... A mobile unit will he sit- uated in the village in front of the MacNeil-Anstey Building and will be ready to receive you from 1.30 pm. until 9 pm. It is hoped all residents will avail themselves of this free chest x-ray. Mrs. C. P. Holmes left for a three week vacation in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday, July 14. Private and Mrs. L G. The surprised bride- to-be was seated beneath a taste- fully decorated wishing well. Most of the lovely gifts had a corsage of garden flowers attached to the bows, and ribbons which finally adorned the beaming young lady as she passed the gifts around for the admiring group of friends to see. He is a veteran of World War II with one year’s overseas service With the Fleet Air Arm to his credit. Donald G. Plaxton of Thornhill, the first of the third generation of the Plaxton family to enter the legal profession, has opened a law office at the corner of Steele’s Avenue and Yonge Streets in the Penn Real Estate building.
