Family Re-union The government is expected to take legislative action at the fall session of Parliament to alter the War Veterans’ Allowance Act as a result of changes in old-age pen- sions law. The allowances are paid to aged or needy overseas veterans and widows of veterans at maximum rates of $40 for single, $70 for married recipients monthly. The government has made clear that once old age pensions for all at 70 come into effect at the start of 1952 there will have to be changes in the allowances. One result may be 9. raising of the ceiling now placed on outside income for allowance recipients so they could benefit more liberally from both pension and allowances. The ceilings now are $485 for sing- le, $850 for married recipients com- pared to similar ceilings of $720 and $1,200 for old age pension rev- ipients.
