Some of this money has been con- tributed to the county scholarship fund, the daii‘y vacation Bible school the transportation to and from the swimming classes for children at Thornhill, the school dental clinic, and substantial con- tributions to the York County Hospital. Also an important pro- ject has been the renovation of the old ladies sitting room at the York County Home for the Aged, New- market. The room is now known as the King sitting room. At this meeting, Mrs. Ivan Specht and Mrs. T. Williams, told of the suc- cessful tea of last June, given by Lady Eaton at Eaton Hall when the sum of $103 00 was raised. With this sum 3 floor covering is to be purchased for the King sit- ting room. Hunter, Stop 24A Yonge St. c1w13 Three young ladies, Fred Dent. Janet Langdon and Norma Wells delighted the audience with two songs, very well su‘ng. - As the past year has been ï¬n- ancially successful, Ways of rais- ing‘ money for the coming year were discussed. Mrs. Ivan Specht told of a novel money raiser, by means of 3 china piggy bank be- ing passed amongst the members, together with a gift. The value of the gift should be put in the piggy bank, then the bank and an ac- companying gift, should be pass- ed to Enother member, and so on all winter, ‘to every member. It was decided that this method should be tried. It was also de- cided to hold a rummage sale in January. There was a discussion regard- ing sending- a gift to the W1. 0f Clee, St. Margaret’s Shropshire, England, as a remembrance from Canada. Mrs- Pierce, who brought a tea cloth from that Institute in June, will be returning to Eng- land soon. It was decided to send a gift valued at $10.44 back with her. It was thought that an al- uminum tea tray might be a typ- ically Canadian souvenir, that would be useful at tea time. Two substantial cheques were presented. One, for $75.00, was presented by Mrs. H. Folliott, as the result of a team from King winning a second prize in a com- petition at the ONE. ,A cheque for $38.00 was presented by Mrs. L. Shropshire, who also won a second prize at the Ex., and who had promised half of her winnings if ‘she should be successful. Both ladies were applauded. The Kings,r ladies were invited to the Gormley W.I. on October 24. They Were asked to provide the program for that meeting.
