Grainger Judge At Thornhill Horticultural Society Fall Show The Thornhill Horticultural Society held its Fall show recently with Mr. Victor Grainger of Thornhill judging the flowers and arrangements. Mr. Grainger also gave a very interesting talk. A new addition to the show was the dis- play of preserves and home baking which was judged by Miss Shirley of Earl Haig Collegiate. Mr. J. Avery of Woodbridge,‘ became the bride of Kenneth Ross Allan Cook, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Cook of Barrie, in Edgeley United Church on Saturday, 0c- tober 6, at 3 o’clock. Rev. P. J. Lambert officiated at the double ring ceremony. The organist was Mrs. Alfred Bagg of Maple. Given in marriage by her father‘ the bride wore a gown of white rayon satin with sweetheart neck- line, fitted bodice, pyramid sleeves with .pointed cufi‘s and a veil of embroidered silk net. She carried a white bible, with an orchid sur- rounded by stephanotis and white bouvardia in ribbon falls. Miss Mary Richards of Toronto, cousin of the bride, was bridesmaid, wear- ing a gown of powder blue taffeta and carrying a cascade of yellow and gold chrysanthemums and pink Happy Day roses. The flower girl, Karen Avery, Woodbridge, niece of the bride, wore a pink taffeta dress , with a hoop skirt and carried a basket of yellow and gold ohm-y's- anthemums and pink Happy Day roses. The groomsman was Will- ,iam Lloyd Cook of Barrie, and the ushers were Lloyd Avery of Bolton, brother of the bride, Roy Avery of Maple, brother of the bride, Clar- ence Prince and Vern. Martin, both of Barrie. Soloist was Mr. W. Wiley of Barrie, who sang “The Lord’s Prayer” and “I’ll Walk Be- side You.’ The reception was held in Edge- ley Community Hall, the supper prepared and served by the Edge- ley W.A. The bride’s mother re-i ceived in a dress of green crepe trimmed with green velvet, with hat to match, and as a corsage wore a mauve hybrid orchid. As- sisting her was the groom’s moth- er wearing a black rayon sheer dress with French lace top, and hat to match. Her corsage was a mauve hybrid orchid. For travelling the bride wore a grey gabardine coat over a pearl grey suit, waistcoat style, trimmed with black velvet, with matching accessories. She wore a. corsage of red Sweetheart rosette roses with white bouvardia. For their wedd- ing trip the couple went to Buffalo and Niagara Falls, and upon their return will reside in Barrie. Guests' attending the wedding were from Sarnia, Midland, Port, McNichol, Weston, Brampton, Bar- rie, Toronto, Kincardine, Maple and King. At a reception held in the Le- gion Memorial Hall, the bride’s mother received wearing a gown of navy sheer and lace, with corsage of pink roses and white camations. She was assisted by the groom’s mother who also chose navy sheer with corsage of yellow roses and White carnations.
