The meeting was opened by the president with the call to Wor- ship. Twenty members answered the roll call. The scripture read- ing was led by Carol Downing. A Thanksgiving story was read by Grethe Dahl. After the business, the older girls sewed quilt patches and the smaller ones, sorted pap- ers. The meeting closed with the benediction. Nnn of Hillsburg, Ontario, took place at her home in Toronto, with Rev. C. H. Bowman officiating. Given in marriage by her brow- er Douglas the bride wore pale blue sheer with cersage of red roses. The maid of honor-was her sister Marion in yellow not with corsage of bronze mums. Richard Buckle of rin was best man. For the reception vthe bride’s mother wore wine crepe with hat to match and corsage of white mums. 'Dhe groom’s mother were a grey suit, black and pink access- ories and corsage of pink mums. A very pretty wedding took place in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Wingham, on Wednesday evening, October 17, when Beat- rice Eva McDonald, daughter of Mrs. McDonald and the late Dan- iel Roy McDonald of Wingham, was united in marriage to Brian Charles Groh, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Groh of Ilderton. The bride was given in marriage by her 'brother Bruce and her sisters Donalda and Denese were the bridesmaids. Bob Evans, Toronto, was the best man and the ushers were Robert MacDonald, Wing- ham and George Miller of Maple. After the wedding reception the happy couple left for a motor trip to Kingston and points in the States. Autumn Tea and Bake Sale The autumn, tea bake sale held in Carrville United Church Wed- nesday afternoon sponsored by the Women’s Association was very suc- cessful. I heard an announcer on the radio the other day say the bake sales aren’t what they used to be, that the ladies now have the various mixes for cakes, cook- ies and pie-fillings in boxes that with such easy ways seldom was anything home-made. I have no complaint of any ‘of the mixes at all, but I wish this announcer could have been at our tea and bake sale where everything was strictly home made, cakes, pies, tarts, cookies, tea biscuits and candy which might be termed old fashioned method Miss Mary Read assisted Miss Ruby Middleton in the sale of bak- ing and candy. Mrs. Read was in charge at the door. Miss Dorothy Baker, Mary and Carol 'Ann George were in charge of the fish ‘pond which was very popular and made a little profit as well.
