Don Patey, an Eastern PrO- vincial Airways pilot whose home is in St. Anthony, Newfoundland spent the week-end at the home of Jack Bawdery of Elg'in Mills, who also flies for Eastern Provincial Airways in NveOundland. The evening service in the Un- ited Church last Sunday was con- ducted by the Canadian Girls in Training group of that Church. It was their annual Christmas ves- per service and consisted of Scrip- ture readings, Christmas hymns and a candle lighting ceremony. The story was given by Mrs. Clar- ence H. Atkinson. Miss Doris Bow- yer took the leader’s 'part. On Monday, December 17, a de- lightful Christmas party was held at the ‘Summit View Drive-In, when about forty-ï¬ve members of the staffs of boflh Thorn View and Summit View Restaurants Were entertained. The evening was spent in playing games and singing car- ols/Mrs. Dorothy Elliott played the piano. Then all sat down to a. de- lightful luncheon, after which gifts were exchanged. Sure hope the freezing weaâ€" ther lasts for the rink to get in good shape. The committee was very sorry that the intended paper collection was not conducted last Saturday as planned. The boys and men were all on hand, and the company which takes the paper would not send their truck out on account of the storm. The children en- joyed cartoon ï¬lms, sang Christmas songs, saw Santa who gave them all fruit and candies.
