One of the highlights of the ded- ication of the new wing of the LANGSTAFF NEWS CORRESPONDENT: MRS. F. STOT’I‘S Richmond Hill District High School was the girls choir under the lead- ership of Mr. E. Lazaar. The choir’s rendition of _“The Lord’s Prayer’ compared favorably with some of the girls choirs heard over the air and around town. The girls all wore formal g0wns of paste] shades which under the lights had a very pleasing effect. Two local girls, Misses Linda Bell and Gayle Nicholson are members of the choir and both looked very charm- ing, the former in a gown of dusty pink taffeta and the latter in daf- fodil yellow. Other local students taking part were Charles Smith, Van Worsdale, Ron Watt. Quite a number of students, parents and friends from Langstaff attended the ceremony. Wesley Hicks column in a Tor- onto paper tells about the Toronto Transportation strike. “Too shy,†he says, “not these two matron 19.- dies of Langstafl’. They just had to go to the city, so taking the advice of others they decided to use the thumb to get home. At Queen and Bay Sts., upon seeing a car with tWo smiling men in the front seat, and an empty back seat approaching, stepped on to the roadway to open the back door and 'get in, to ï¬nd to their surprise that the two smiling men .were two polciemen, who informed the ladies they were going west on Queen and not north.
