He had it up over the side of the boat when the musky “struckâ€. It missed the lure. but landed squarely in the middle of the boat. The men are now laying claim to the world's speed record for landing a musky. Rotary Boys Will Play Highland Pk. Two Americans were ï¬shing in Eagle Lakemear Dryden, Ont., the other day when they caught a 28 lb. musky . . . that is, the musky caught them. Mangotich pinned Flicker to take the ï¬rst fall, but only after both he and Sullivan had given him a thor- ough going over. The second round was on much the same lines as the ï¬rst, but this time Flicker (with help from Garner pinned Sullivan. Sullivan was pinned again by ‘Red’ in the third fall, to win the match. Mangotich, as usual, objected to this, so Garner came back and threw both him and his partner out of the ring. They were still ï¬ghting as they went out to the dressing rooms. The semi-ï¬nal, between'two lo- cal boys, Bobby (Ironman) Jordan and Joe Greenï¬eld was won by Jordan when he took Greenï¬eld with a cross buttock and body press. It was an exceptionally clean bout. Local Rink Wins Memorial Trophy A SPECIAL SCHOOL MEETING OF RATEPAYERS of the biggest ï¬sh we have ever seen, a 36 pound Muskilonge. This 54 inch monster was caught with an 18 lb. test line and 21 Williams Wobbler. When the ï¬sh was hook- ed. it slowed the boat almost to a standstill and the anglers thought they had snagged on a log but half an hour's work proved that it was no lag. Marilyn and Sunny repeated their number for the spectators Wednes- day evening. The girls in the Thornhili Swimming Club went to the city weekly last winter and spring to learn, practice and pre pare their synchronized swimming, and deserve a great deal of credit for what they have accomplished, as do the parents who weekly went down to bring the girls home. The event was well attended by both competitors and spectators, with over 100 boys and girls com- peting. The Dr. W. R. Wesley Challenge Cup for Diving, presented by Dr. Wesley was won by John Bennett for the second time with a ï¬ne diving exhibition. The Lions Club Trophy for the boy with the highest point total m the meet was also presented by Mr. Dick Jefleries. and won by John Bennett again for the second time. Last Saturday night, before more than 3,000 racing fans, Hurrying Hogan made it three feature race victories in succession as he care- fully guided his jalopy over a damp track. George Conquer was second, Wild Bill Greathead third. The amazing thing about Hogan is that since arriving at Pinecrest early in June he has won six fea: ture races.
