Evans to Collingwood and Wasaga Beach on Thursday. They called on friends in both places. Three Oak Ridges and Lake Wil- cox residents have just returned from a fishing trip to Miserable Lake, Haliburton. It got its name because of the three mile walk to get there. However Mr. Fred Judge, Mr. Owen Newhall and Mr. Thom‘ as Maguire report the fishing ex- cellent. Mrs. S. Williams spent a week recently with friends at Rosebank. Mrs. Williams is making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ivan Bond. Another newcomer to this disâ€" trict is Lloyd Reid. Mr. Reid, for- merly with Morley’s in Richmond Hill, is now assistant manager at the Summit View Restaurant. John Passmore's cousin, Alex Passmore of Hamilton ,is a visitor at John’s home this week. Billy Copeland spent a week at the home of his uncle, Earl Weaver, ChippeWa. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Copeâ€" land drove down last week-end to bring him home and while in the Niagara district visited friends in St. Catherines. Miss Marilyn Hawman returned home last week after a six week holiday at Yellow Springs, West Virginia. Marilyn enjoyed the mountain climbing and did some riding while she was away, but the many snakes under foot were not so attractive. Returning home she iotored to Washington with friends and came the rest of the way by plane. Freethy. Matron of the Orange Home, went to Deep River to visit her daughter, Mrs. John Sproule. Gallagher joined them for the week-end. Mr. Gallagher on his first fishing trip, with beginner’s luck caught a 20 pound pike. The biggest fish caught this season. He won the fishing pool of $12. The School Board of S. S. 13, Lake Wilcox is having the old Jef- ferson School painted to accommo- date the overflow from the new 4- room school built last year. An- other teacher has been hired and two grades will go by bus to this school on Yonge Street. The annual contest for the larg- est fish caught in Lake Wilcox is being held as usual this year. Bring your catch to Mrs. Ash's booth to be weighed. The Percy Ash Memorial Trophy will be aw- arded to the fisherman who catches the largest Pike and the Alfred Patchell trophy to the one who catches the largest Bass. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. W. Zimmerman. Brookside Road, whose new granddaughter arrived at St. Michael's Hospital Sunday, August 17. Mr. and Mrs. Harold L. Smith are the happy parents and their eldest daughter. Linda. is staying with her grandmother. Mrs. Zimmerman, until mother and baby return home. This contest which closes Sm- tember 1, was started some ten years ago by the late Mr. Percy Ash. Local anglers always take a keen interest in the affair and we hear some big ones are being caught. Mrs. A, D. Jenkins, Oak Ridges. is taking “Baku” to the Basenji Specialty Show at Rye, New York, on September 7. Fifty entries of this rare breed have been entered in this show this year. Mrs. K. Robinson of Willowmount Kennels, Thornhill, and two of her Dalma- tians will make the trip with Mrs. Jenkins and Mrs. Robinson will show her dogs at the Dalmatian Specialty Show at Farhill, New Jersey on September 6. The three dogs will be entered in several classes in both shows. Many happy returns to David Ratchford who celebrates his fourth birthday on August 26.
