Hickson-Julian Zion Lutheran Church, Sher- wood. was decorated with stand- ards of crysanthemum and gladioli on Saturday, September 27, for the wedding ceremony of Jean Mable, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Julian and Mr. Cleveland William Church of Christ at Concord School House will be holding its third anniversary next Sunday, Oc- tober 12. Mr. A. E. Atkinson of Toronto will be the speaker. A social hour will follow at the home .of Mr. and Mrs Bert Witty. The annual congregational fowl supper will be held in the church on Friday evening, October 17. Reva. J. Fischer preached a sermon especially for the children. Mr. Warren Bone, secretary of the Sunday School gave a very fa- vorable report. The Sunday School attendance had increased during the past year which was a very en- couraging sign. Promotion cards were issued in order that the pu- pils might be placed in classes most suitable to their age and training. On Sunday, October \12, Sunday School will be held at 10 a.m. and Sunday Service at 11 am. On Sunday afternoon at 2.30 o'- clock there was a large congregatâ€" ion in attendance at Zion Lutheran church when Mr. Stanley Kefier, Superintendent of the Sunday School presided at the Rally Day Service. Kefier and Mrs. Percy Ash, primary class teachers, and, the intermediate boys class under the leadership of Mrs. Wilmer Keffer led the praise and their an- thems were beautifully rendered and very inspiring when sung by the young voices. Mrs. J. Whalley of Laurel and Mr. G. Whalley visited with Mr. and Mrs. Warren Bai-lie last week. Friends of little Lorne Whalley are sorry to hear he is again in the hospital. Mrs. Frisby was predeceased by her husband William Henry Fris- by eight years ago. Reid Brumwell of Vic- toria Square and Ross Winterstein of Stoufiville. On their return they will reside in Aurora. , Born on a farm in Scott Town- ship. Mrs. Frisby came to Rich- mond Hill from Toronto, and spent the remainder of her life here. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church and took an active part in its organizations, being president of the W.A. for nine years, and secretary previous t 0 that office. She was a member of the choir of that church during her first years in the village. Mrs. Frisby was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary Thirsk of Markham Township, her grand- parents being pioneers in this township. Miss Mildred Julian, the bride’s younger sister, in a mauve taffeta and net dress with brocade bolero and Miss Sylvia Kerr in a similarly styled dress of lime green were her attendants. Both were head- dresses of roses and forget-me-nots. A resident of Richmond Hill for the past 30 years, Harriet Gert- rude Frisby died at her home, 108 Baker Avenue, on Friday. October 3, after a lingering illness of six months. She was in her '7lst year. Following the reception in the Sunday School room of the Luth- eran church, Mr. and Mrs. Hickson left on a motor trip to Winnipeg and the United States. For travell- ing ,the bride donned a powder blue suit and navy accessories and she wore a corsage of tinted blue mums. Following the ceremony the bride's mother received in a gown of plum faille and lace and she wore grey accessories and a cor- sage of yellow roses and gladioli petals. She was assisted by the groom‘s mother in a gown of cop- per colored lace and crepe and she were dark brown accessories and a corsage of bronze roses. Mr. Grant Hickson of Lindsay. was groomsman for his cousin, and the ushers were Mr. George Julian, eldest brother of the bride and Mr. Carmon StevensOn.
