The fire department from Aurora fought the fire for three hours. but ‘ were unable to save the house. which was completely ruined after the roof fell in. Left standing arc ‘ the walls of what was one of the finest two storey brick homes on the 5th concession. Mr. and Mrs. Cain and their three little girls. Mary. Margaret Ann and Marie. are living with Mr. and Mrs. John Cain, whose home is across the road from the scene of the fire. Some of the contents of the house were removed by volunteer fire- men, and the large barns were not in danger. Design Christmas Card Frank Fogg has offered to design a Ch istmas Card. with a picture of Al Saints Anglican Church as its decoration, which could be sold for the benefit of the church builds ing fund. On Monday night Mr. J. T. Colbourne. Toronto architect, met a representative group of church members to discuss with them proposed alterations and im- provements to the church building. He will make sketches of his plans. and will have them ready in a few days for the congregation to ex- amine. Mrs. Ada Sanderson and her dau- ghter Helen of Toronto, spent a few days with Mrs. George Stone recently. Another visitor was Mrs. Frank McDonald, also of Toronto. and a former resident of King. The newly formed A.Y.P.A. is holding a dance in McDonald and Wells hall on Friday evening. They ‘will dance to records spun by am- ateur disc jockeys, who will be members of the A.Y.P.A. The girls are bringing box lunches which will be sold for 25c and the young lady will eat with the young man who buys her box. Each box is to be wrapped in newspaper and tied with string, so that no one will be able to identify the owner until they find her name inside the _box. Attend Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Hadwin, Stratford, spent the past week-end with their parents and were presâ€" ent at the 80th anniversary services of Teston United Church. Their five months old daughter, Christine, was the youngest member of the Hadwln family present at these special services. Laskay W.M.S. Church held its regular business meeting at the home of Mrs. Ar- chie McDonald on November 5. During the afternoon two extra collectiolis were received. One collection will be forwarded to the Victor Home for Girls, Toronto. The other special collection will be forwarded to the new training school of the United Church. where girls are being trained to become medical missionaries. Confirmation Classes Confirmation classes are being started next week at All Saints An- glican Church. All interested should let the rector, Rev. D. C. H. Michell, know immediately, so that the date, time and place ‘of the classes may be fixed to suit the greatest number. Messages may be left at the Rectory, Anglican Rectory The Anglican Rectory at King City has been rented #or a short time to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Fraser and their two children. The Frasers have sold their home on the King Sideroad to Mr. and Mrs. William Baird who will move from Willowdale, on Thursday. Since the late summer, Mr.- and Mrs. Fraser have been planning to buy a farm, and expect to find what they are seeking within the next four or five months. Until then they will live in the rectory. The Rev. D. C. H. Michell is keeping his office in the Rectory and will be available there by telephone. WA. Mrs. Frank Armstrong was host- ess at the meeting of the WA. of Eversley Presbyterian Church when the regular monthly meet- ing was held at her home on Wed- nesday afternoon, November 5. Plans were made for the annual bazaar, which will be held on Nov- ember 28, in King City United Church basement. The convenors of the booths are ; Aprons Mrs. T. L. Williams; Baking. There were 11 ladies present to discuss the work of the local Brow- nie Pack. Last year the Brownies were organized in this district with Mrs. Marion Laing and Miss Faye Armstrong. in charge. The local association was formed to support the Brownie Pack and,mothers and adult friends of the little girls make up the membership. There are now 18 Brownies, all “orking for their first badge. the Golden Hand. The next meeting will be held on the evening of December 1,7 at the home of MES. Wilbert Jen- nings, Temperanceville. Accident The first accident in the district on slippery winter roads took Mrs. Ursula Shields, 3rd con. of King, to Newmarket Hospital, on Thursr day morning. November 7. Driving to Aurora on Wellington St.. on the hill directly east of the 2nd concession. Mrs. Shields' car went into a skid and crashed head-on into a gravel truck driven by Barton Daniels. Markham. Her car was so badly damaged that nothing can be salvaged. The truck was damaged, but the driver was un- hurt. Mrs. Shields is suffering .from shock, fractured knee cap and fractured cheekbones besides other injuries. Her sons Freddy Joe and Charles Shields are visiting their aunt. Mrs. Roger Webber of Toronto while their mother is in hospital. Mrs. H. Meek and her sons John, Lloyd and Allan of Orangevllle and Mrs. Duke were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Snider and Bay on Sunday The Women’s Association of Elia United Church met Tuesday after- noon, November 4, at the home of Mrs. Heide.
