The sympathy of the community is extended to Mrs. Scott. Mr. W. J. Smillle and Mrs. Whiteside in the loss 6f their brother Robert Smillie who passed away suddenly at his home, Wednesday, Novem- ber 19, at No. 7 east. Mr. Smlllle was proprietor of a service station and will be sadly missed by friends A social half hour followed and refreshments were served by the hostess. Mrs. Wm. An invitation was received from the former pres- ident Mrs. Marritt, who has been on the sick list for some time, for the group to hold its Christmas meeting at her home. Masonic Hall, Yonge St. N. Mrs. R. A. Jones. presided and led in the devotional period with each member reading a verse of chapter 10 from the Book of the Prophet Jeremiah and Mrs. Eagle- son gave a reading from the book “Spring In the Valley." The prayer session was taken by Mrs. Carter, Mrs. Huestis, Mrs. McLean and Mrs. Jones. Blessings were asked for all the sick in the community, the missionaries and for the new addition to the Church. Mrs. Anderson of Mount Dennis, underwent an appendectomy last week and is convalesclng at the home of her daughter and son-in- law, Mr. and Mrs. R. The capacity of the Ridge Inn was taxed for a while but everybody was in good spirits and the pancakes. sausages. pie and ice cream proved to be worth waiting for. The pancakes and sausages were cooked by Chef Grant McCachen. The pies were made by the Lions' wives. A good sum was realized for the work of the Oak Ridges Lions Club. Twenty-Mb head were sold for a total of nearly $7,000. The highest price received was for a champion butter fat pro- ducer, Don Eddy Northern Clover, which sold for $750. Auctioneers were Ken and Clarke Prentice of Markham. They discussed the setting up of a scale of writing for the township and exchanged ideas for the cele- bration of Christmas in the schools. “Bride of the Week" in the Morris Credit Jewellers contest last week. Doreen and her future husband, Norman Lamb of Toronto, each re- ceived $50 in prizes and Mr. Hout- ing as sponsor of the bride was given $30 in gifts. This makes the young couple who will be married in the spring eligible for the jack- pot prize of a house to be given away in the spring. Clifford Weston is a patient in York County Hospital.
