She attended Edgeley public school and Edgeley United Church Just a month less two days before her death she was one of three people who attended the anniversary ser- vices at Edgeley United Church who were also present at the op- ening ceremonies 75 years ago. She represented the fiffth genera- tion of the family at the christen- ing recently of little Gloria Chris- tine Bowes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Bowes. Mrs. Bowes was the former Irene Puterbaugh, great-grand niece of the deceased. MiSS Selina Puterbaugh will be greatly missed by those who have known this community for a long time and she will be remembered as very much a part of Edgeley from 1872 to 1952. Born of pioneer stock, Mr. Hoo- ver farmed all his life in the same vicinity as his ancestors. Rev. P. J. Lambert conducted the funeral services at Ward's Funer- al Home, Weston and burial was in Edgeley Cemetery. The pall- bearers were James Spencer, Lloyd l‘hompson, Wesley Stong, William Jurdekin, Frank Bagg and Daniel Jtong. , The more expensive machines could be bought co-operatively. In some cases it may be better to have the work done by a custom opera- tor. In failing health for some time, Miss Puterbaugh was, nevertheless, keenly interested in local affairs and current events. Rev. P. J. Lambert conducted the fu ral service at Mrs. Lawrie's Fu eral Home, Maple, on Wednes- day, November 19 and interment was in Maple Cemetery. To the members of her family we extend most sincere sympathy. Late Mr. Levi Hoover Edgeley lost another life-long resident last week in the passing of Mr. Levi Hoover age 86. Mr. Hoover passed away at a Willow- dale nursing home after a long ill- ness. He was the last of a family of six boys and two girls. We extend deepest sympathy to his niece, Miss Bertie Hoover, and other members of the family in their bereavement. The groups felt that most farm- ers are mechanized on a sound bas- is. The farms are smaller in this area than in some and the mach- inery they now have courd poss- ibly handle more land. However. due to the ever-present shortage of farm labor, they found good farm machinery a “must” in order to get their work done. The average farmer. they be- lieve buys his machinery wisely. The December series begins on December 1 when the topic will be “Why Price Supports?" (b) What are your reasons? 2. If machinery is required that is too expensive for the individual farmer to buy, what would be the best way of solving the problem in your neighborhood or area? The York County Hog Producers’ Association. according to an adver- tisement appearing in this issue of The Liberal. is holding a meeting of the producers on Monday next at Newmarket to discuss the hog marketing scheme which apparent- ly is expected to become effective on January 1. It will be recalled that several months ago. such a scheme was voted on by the produ- cers and presented to the Minister of Agriculture, Col. the Hon. T. L. Kennedy. We presume the intervening time has been required to work out some details and mechanics of the proposition and the directors of the York County Association have arranged to have Mr. Chas. New- no of Barrie, a Director of the Ontario Association. explain the plan and discuss with the produc- ers its working. This should be a real opportunity to get first-hand knowledge on this important sub- ject. The meeting ls to be held in the Agricultural Board Room at New- market commencing at 2 pm. On Saturday. November 15, on invitation of Canadian Legion 375 the Legion Memorial Hall. Carr- ville Ed, was filled to capacity by the many children and grown-ups to witness the Santa Claus parade on television. It was a real treat. On behalf of Canadian Legion Branch No. 375 Poppy Campaign Committee, Chairman Frank Tit- shall wishes to thank principals. staff and pupils of all the 13 schools for the wonderful response.
