They were uncovered by soil scientists of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), who report that the 2000-year-old cisterns can be copied and even restored in some cases to furnish irrigation to today's desert dwellers. Mrs. Roy Bowen read a paper on Canada. Church News Mrs. Gordon Baldwin presented the W.I. with a song for “sink singing" entitled Look for the Sil- ver Lining. The members had a great deal of pleasure in singing this over several times. Mrs. W. Turner acted as pianist in the ab- sence of Mrs. Fred Hare. The delegate of‘ Temperance- ville W.I. chosen to attend the convention held at the Royal York Hotel on November 4, 5, 6 is Mrs. Wilbert Jennings with Mrs. Fred Boys as alternate. She compiled and developed a method known as the “Open Door," which proved especially useful for immediate talking and fellowship-meeting with the American children, stag- ing plays and pantomines in which German and American child- ren were the actors.
