Of Agriculture Hear Talk On Assessment Mr. J. N. MacDonald, clerk of Vaughan Township, in addres- sing a meeting of the Vaughan Township Federation of Agricul- ture in Edgeley Community Hall. recently discussed the new meth- od being considered of assessing real estate for municipal taxa- tion. At the present time farm land in the township is carrying the greater share of the tax burd- en while buildings, both farm and residential. are assuming a much smaller share of the tax burden in comparison to their value. By the new system ‘of assessment. the land and buildings would be assessed for a similiar percentage of their actual value. Mr. MacDonald also answered numerous questions put forth re- garding the re-assessment pro- gramme. Ray Hergatt. director of Field Services, Ontario Federation of Agriculture. discussed Township program planning. The Unionville Junior Farme s and Junior Institute quartet e presented several lively numbers. The May meeting. it ed. will take the form the plans of which are complete.
