TIERNEY, HIGHLAND PARK NEWS Chairmah it was a certainly a fine ending to the year's activities and made a very interesting and pleasant Annual meeting. The making and operation of puppets was explain- ed and wonderful demonstrations of the various types were dem- onstrated for those present. Mr. Merton has 200 puppets of vari- ous types and he had with him at least a dozen who performed in their own special way. The shy little boy puppet,, got over his shyness to make up beautifully with Lyn Condon, a young lady in the audience. A beautiful per- formance by a famous pianist was rendered, a fine accordion solo was given by a troubador. Two different types of clowns acted their special numbers, one doing tricks the other being quite a trapeze artist. We had,a monk- ey from the Monkey shines in Monkeyland show, recently given at Eaton's, during Easter season, A sailor put on a real dance for us, and then we had Fifi, the French poodle and were intro- duced to two of the very newest performers, the beautiful sister and the father from the new pan- tomine to be given in the future in the Beauty and the Beast. All the clothes for the puppets are especially designed and made for their parts. Last,, but not least we had Sandy McTavish, a real Scotsman give us his ren- dition of Saturday night in Glas- gow. Everyone thoroughly en- joyed all the characters present- ed and were told how they could attend classes this summer to learn how to do these things themselves. The reports of all officers and convenors, were given out in mimeographed form so they could be read at leisure and they all added up to a most suc- cessful year for Powell Rd. Home and School.
