There are 16 girls in the Company this year, with 4 new members. Elaine Gordon is the Patrol Leader of the Scarlet Tanger patrol and Marilyn Tay- lor her seconder. Joyce Wright is the Patrol Leader of the Blue- birds, with Peggy Rae Gotts- chalk, as her seconder. The girls are planning a camp re-union night, on Tuesday October 19. Everyone will be welcome. Brownies The lst Richvale. Guide 00., held their first meeting on Tues. Sept. ~21, when Patrol Leaders and Seconds were chosen: Carole Jarman, Norman Lenton and Nancy Underhill are the Patrol Leaders, and Shlela Miller, Paul- ine Paul and Donna Wainwright the seconders. Any other girls wishing to join the Company are asked to register as soon as pos- sible. The meetings are held every Tuesday night, starting at Cubmaster Donald Bellamy welcomes all boys between the ages of 8 and 12, who attended Richvale Publbic School, to reg- ister with the lst Richvale Cub Pack. Sept. 30. after the Cub meeting. Mr. John Moor- head. president, would like all fathers and friends of the move- ment to try and attend this im- portant meeting, to further the interests of Scouting. The meet- ing will start at 8.15. Miss Deborah Kirk was the lucky winner of the beautiful quilt made and raffled by the ladies of the legion, branch 375. Excellent progress is being made on the new hall, and they hope to have the roof on before the end of the year. Comrade Arbu- thnot took over the duties on Wednesday and Thursday. and attended the Memorial Service at the Cenotaph. There were 728 delegates, representative of 35 zones all over Ontario. Mrs. M. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Smith. and David had a very busy weekend at their cottage on Snake Island, Lake Simcoe. It will be with deep sorrow, that some of the long-time resi- dents of the Community, learn of the death of Mr. Peter Herd, on Saturday September 25. Mr. Herd lived here about 12 years ago, and was well-known as Fire Chief and a great dog lover. Travellers Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wood have returned frOm an enjoyable 3 day vacation at Lake Chandos. Mrs. Percy David. who has just returned frOm a trip to the United States visited her daugh- ter, Mrs. N. McDermott, last week. on the occasion of Mrs. McDermott’s birthday. Late Resident Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Ferguson. who came from Bay City, Michi- gan to attend the Oakville Dog Show called to see Mr. and Mrs. Harold Inca. Mrs. H. Gottschalk was hostess to her mother, Mrs. E. Bradshaw from Toronto, and her sister, Mrs. B. Marshall, Markham, over the 'weekend. Mr. and Mrs. W. Kirk of Long Branch, Mr. Gordon Kirk, Chl- cago, and Mr. and Mrs. F. Lock- hart, Port Credit, were entertain- ed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Kirk on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Einboden, Spruce Ave., have bought a 200- acre farm near Shelburne. and will be working it as a stock and grain farm. They will be leav- ing Richvale at the beginning of November. _ Mrs. Einboden came from England 9 years ago to Richvale. which was her first home in Canada. Her help in village affairs will be sadly mis- sed, as she has been most active in all Guide and Brownie affairs. Home and School, and Church work. Her last contribution to the Guides and Brownies, will be a euchre, which she is giving at movement during her absence. her house on Wednesday Oct. 6. at 8:30, to raise funds for the All mothers and friends are urged to attend, and say farewell to Mrs. Einboden. Avenue Tut. who suffered a heart attack last week, is progressing favour- ably, but will be confined to bed for another three weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Broom Jr., are the proud parents of a baby girl, weighing 8 lbs. 6 02., who was born at Newmarket Hospital- on Saturday night, September 25. Both mother and daughter are doing well, Mrs. Broom is the former Miss Margaret Wood, Gary will be happy to see his new siste_r, Margaret Jean. The pupils of Grades 4, an: 6, 7 and 8 will start their annual sale of Christmas cards and wrapping paper on Monday October 4 The praceeds from their sales will go towards buying film strips and sport equipment for the school. Social Notes Due to the recent increase in the size of the school and addit- ional pupils. an assistant princi- pal has joined the staff. Mr. John Armstrong. is fulfilling this position and teaching Grades 77 and 8. Other new members to join the staff are, Mr. D. Mc- Sporran. who comes from Thorn- hill Public School and teaches Grades 6 and 7. Mrs. T. Huro- witz. Miss D. Fawcett and Mrs. I. Olmstead. Additions to the school are progressing and Mr. Donald McTavish anticipates a return to the regular school hours in the not too distant future. . Rlohvale Public School Miss Joan Wood. formerly of CArrville Rd. W., who has been teaching for the past two years at Concord school, is now at- tending Teachers College in To- ronto. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Ficht. have moved to a new residence on Hunt‘s Lane, and Mr. and Mrs. James Turnbull and family. formerly of Elgin Mills are now living at the previous home of Mr. and Mrs. Flcht. was greatly enjoyed.
