At the Brownie mothers’ evening. the mothers joined in all the games and studied flags, safety rules and many other tests prepared for them by Brown Owl. Mrs. F. Bigley. Moorhead, chairman of the Richvale Group committee is well pleased with the progress being made in Cubs and Scouts. Ross Wood is assisting Don Bell- amy in Cubs. and the new Scout troop is coming along well. The most important item in the near future will be the selection of a candidate to attend the World Jamboree at Niagara-on-the- Lake, in August. There will be about 15.000 boys attending this world-wide gathering. lst class and Queen's Scouts will be eligi- ble for this honour and the Group Committee hope: there will be a representative from Richvale. Langstafl' Cubs and Scouts About 50 boys and their lead- ers had a wonderful time last Saturday afternoon at Lands and Forest station at Maple. They saw the most up to date radio station. and learned about the control of forest ï¬res. beav- ers. lynx and wolves from the deep-freeze unit, which are kept for investigating the control of parasites. They learned about hunting and trapping licenses, laboratory experiments on ï¬sh. the effects of feeding and water temperatures regarding the ï¬sh and also the care and growth of seedlings and the experiments carried on to improve and fur- ther our beautiful forests. After about four hours of great inter- est and much walking, the 10- car cavalcade returned the tir- ed and happy boys to their homes. Mr. N. Perry. chairman of the Langstaff Group Committee held a meeting with the fathers on Wednesday night to discuss the coming ï¬nancial campaign. The canvassers for all Scout and Cub activities will be calling on the parents soon and they do hope that they can make their objective to carry on this won- derful work for the boys.
