Temperanceville Couple Celebrate Silver Wedding Twenty-five years ago Miss Mae Beck and Mr. Nelson Thompson solemnized the mar- riage vows at the King United Church parsonage, with Rev. A. H. Halbert officiating. Their at- tendants were the bride’s sister, now Mrs. Nelson Kerr, and the groom's brother, Mr. Edgar Thompson. 011 February 22, 1955, the happy couple recalls the weather of the day as similar to that of 25 years ago, when it was very mild with a little less snow. The reception was held in the afternoon and evening at their home on the 2nd concession of King, south of Temperanceville. This is the home to which the bride and groom of 25 years ago arrived after their honeymoon. About 150 guests were wel- comed by the joyous couple, Mrs. Thompson wearing black taffeta and a corsage of red ros- es and white hyacinths. The tea table was most attrac- tive with its pure white linen tablecloth adorned by a three- tier silver wedding cake. This was decorated with silver doves and cupids on the columns be- tween the layers. The tea assistants were Mrs. Nelson Kerr, Mrs. John Clift, Miss Florrie Beynon and three nieces, Misses Betty Snider, Syl- via Kerr and Helen Thompson. 'Mother of the groom, Mrs. John Thompson, Toronto, in her 82nd yea]: attended the recep- tion in the evening. Friends, Miss Marjorie McMurchy and Mrs. Laurine Prendergast assist- ed in the gift room. The exquis- ite gifts included hand-wrought aluminum, silver and an electric tea kettle. ‘ During the afternoon, Mrs. Nell Snider, sister of Mrs. Thompson poured tea. In the ev- ening, Mrs. Edgar Thompson. wife of groomsman of 25 years ago, presided at the tea table. Mrs. Hilda Skippon left this week-end for Kentucky where she will spend a two week holi‘ day. While there she plans to visit the various points of inter- est and will return around March 13 with her father, T. Bolton. who has been holidaying in Ken- tucky for some time.
