(continued) MUSICAL JOB PRINTING DEPARTMENT VETERINARY The Liberal AVenue 5-1667 Maple, Ont The Harmony Club Christmas Bazaar and Afternoon tea. to be held in Buttonville Hall on Sat- urday afternoon of this week promises to be quite interesting. The ladies of the comunity have been hard at work on hand-made articles, and hunting up White Elephants. Anyone interested in antique dishes, etc.. would be well advised to attend. Then. of course, there is the Home-Baking booth, to which visitors will flock, and the hand made articles. knit- ted baby goods and doll clothes in the Baby Booth, to say nothing of aprons an dmiscelianeous items too numerous to mention. 'Come and get the Christmas spirit! The time is 2.00 pm. Last week Miss Nancy Spears spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Art Newson at Lakefleld. Neighbourhoo Note_s Mrs. Wm. Elliott is staying at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rus- sell Boyington presently. Friday evening of this week. the third Euchre party of the present series will be held at Buttonville Hall. With Dec.~14 the last night of play, excite’ ment is running high and a good attendance is expected. Refresh- ments will be served and there are nightly prizes. Sympathy of the community is extended to Mrs. S. R. Patterson and her family at the death of her mother. Mrs. Gibson, of Strathroy. Mrs. Gibson was a frequent visitor at the Patterson home and had made mahy friends in this neighbourhood. After four weeks on strike, the independent truckers are now back at work. We understand that Conn Smythe’s drivers did benefit to some extent by the walk-out. but for the most part the men are right where they started, less one months’ pay. And the truckers are not the only ones to feel the pinch â€"â€" more than one garage proprietor has taken a loss. One at Steel’s Ave. and Don Mills found that he had to close down for the dura- tion. More hunters to return recentâ€" ly from the north were Mr. E. Hill, Mr. Charles Hooper and Mr. George Hooper. Mr. Hill and Mr. Charles Hooper reported fair hunting. but not so with George. Mr. Murray Roberts informs us that the date set for the Christmas concert given by But- tonville School children at But- tonville W. I. Hall will be held on Thursday, Dec. 20, in the evening. Among the guests attending the C.G.I.T. Graduation banquet at Victoria Square church on Friday evening of last week were Mrs. Ross Hard and Judy, Mrs. Harold Stefiler and Gail, Mrs. John McKinney and Eleanor, Mrs. George Cakes and Janet, Mrs. 0. Brooke and Marilyn Magee, 1‘s. Charles Hooper and Mary. Mrs. Edgar Fuller and ‘Joy, Mrs. Douglas Hood and Mrs. F. H. Leaf. The ladies luncheon at Vic- toria Square church held on Tuesday afternoon of last week was well attended and many 10- cal women were present: Mrs. A. W. Miller, Mrs. Wm. Rodick, Mrs. A. Gardner, Mrs. G. Put- nam. Mrs R. Boyington. Mrs. Aubrey Stephenson, Mrs. E. Crisp and Mrs. Ja_s. McQuax. Another new business has sprung up in the area. Early this autumn Mr. Walter Brum- well opened a woodworking busi- ness known as Brumwell Wood Products. Mr. Brumwell is well known locally for his fine work- manship, and we wish him every success in his new venture. At present he is operating from his home on Steele’s avenue, near the fifth concession. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Pantlin, who have been at M-H Farms for several years will move on De- icember 1 to Mono Mills where Mr. Pantlin will be employed on the estate of Col. Beardmore. On Thursday of last week Mr. and Mrs. Pantlin and their family were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Brumwell, and in the evening members of the Baby Booth group (Harmony) gathered to honour Mrs. Pantlin who has been a valued member. They presented her with a Sun- beam Electric frying pan. Vote As You Like â€" But Vote When voters go to the Mark- ham Township polls on Monday, Dec. 3, they “'1” find two Button- ville residents contesting the reeveship. Mr. Wm. Clark and Mr. Chas. hooper have both served many teims on council, Mr. Clark 25 councillor and deputy-reeve and Mr. Hooper as councillor and rceve. For the office of ' Deputy- reeve there is a choice between Donald Deaccn, who last year served on th: council. and F. Vacher, a newcomer. For coun- cil, in ward two, there are Mr. Lawson Mumberson, a resident of Gormley, and Mr. A. Gamble, of Unionville, both newcomers.
