Mrs. Jack Gay and Debra were guests also. Mrs. Wm. Hellman and Mrs. Acreman represented Headford at the Lenten study group at Brown‘s Corners Church last Wednesday evening. After being announced for two Sundays an election of two new elders, replacing two who passed on last year. took place at the worship service at Head.- ford on Sunday last. There will be an induction for them and .he one new steward. Mrs. Wes Clark. at the service next sunday. Of interest to many Headford folk, was the talk on CBC. radio at 10:20 o'clock last Sunday evening of Dr. Winnifred Bryce. who spoke on Outcasts in India. She told of her association with Dr. Ambedkar. who rose from being an outcast to become India‘s first native to get a B.A.. and went on to become a lawyer When India gained her indepen- dence in 1947. Dr. Ambedkar became Minister of Law, and had the signal honor of drawing up the Constitution of India. It is a country of 60 million out- casts yet; but except for such brilliant men as Ambedkar and Gandhi, conditions could be much worse. Of the original cabinet of 1947 only Nehur is still living._ It had been intended to hold thi: meeting at the home of Mrs. Cummer Lee, who is in charge of the program, but it has been deemed advisable to change the place of meeting to the church. The theme of the meeting in “Together”, and a good program is in prospect, with film strips, Mr. and Mrs.Melvin Wellman visited Mrs. Marshall, who it at present convalescing in a nut- sing home, on Sunday last. ‘ I uAj_4 To help celebrate the birthday last week of Gordon and Gloria Lee, were their aunt and uncle Harold and Kay McDougal, an Don English and his sma}! sgn.
