Blnnlngton in- stalled Melvin Wellman as one of the new elders of Headford Church. The item should have read that two new elders, Mr. Merrill Johnson and Mr. George Barker were elected and installed at the morning worship service on March 9. by Rev. A. F. Bin- nington. Mr. Melvin Wellman has been an elder of the church for a number of years now. Headford W.A. met on Tues- day evening last with a very good showing of members pres- ent. After the business session. during which one of the new hymn books was passed around. and the inscription to be put on the fly leaf decided upon; also a decision to have roll call an- swered by a scripture verse. the president. Mrs. C. Lee. announc- ed her theme, "Together" This part of the service opened with the singing of an old Seth Parker hymn. “You go to your church. and I'll go to mine,” followed by prayer by the president. An in- spiring film strip on working and worshipping together was shown. followed by an instructive one on the co-operation and “togeth- erness” of Canada and the Unit- ed States in constructing the A1- aska Highway. Mr. Binnington. whom we were pleased to wel- come with Mrs. BinningtonI later remarked on the high tone of the meeting, and the enthusiasm and willingness of all the members Movers 8: Cartage of the, W.A Birthday greetings to Sharon Bell. celebrating her birthday on Friday, March 21, the first day of ASpring. x Speaking of spring. a rather ruffled looking robin has been seen In our neighborhod this week. We almost wish he had waited a little longer. The president's mother. Mrs. McDougal of Toronto, conducted a “Shopping Tour” contest, while the hostess prepared lunch. After partaking. a hearty vote of thanks was given by Mrs. Wellman on behalf of all present for a very splendid evening. Mrs. Hugh Deverell and Mrs. Acreman represented Headford at the W.M.S. on Wednesday af- ternoon at the home of Mrs. Westbrook in Victoria Square. Mrs. McRoberts and Mrs. Storey co-operated to present the final chapters of the study book. Later, Mrs. Collard, newly appointed secretary for Community Friend- ship. assisted by Mrs. McRoberts, gave a very amusing skit on how not to make a friendly visit. Ear- lier in the program Mrs. Mum- berson read a poem by Jana Scott, relative to making visits. The hostess, assisted by Mrs. Sandle served lunch. The next meeting will be the Easter Thankoffering. to be held in the church at Victoria Square, on Wednesday. April 9, at 2.30 pm. when the W.M.S. will entertain the younger groups.
