Mrs. S. Boyton, superintendent of the Mission Band, was in charge of the programme. The Christ- mas Scripture Lesson was read by Mrs. H. McCague, president of the W.M.S. The children under the leadership of Mrs. A. Orr, enacted part of their Study Book, then sang several choruses. with Mrs. R. Cowie accompanying them at the piano. The \guest speaker, Mrs. Koning, told the children the Christmas customs of her home-land, Holland, which was very much enjoyed by all. Misses Anita Orr and Margaret Sandle took up the offering which was dedicated by Mrs. A. F.'Bin- nington. Following the meeting, dainty refreshments were served by the members of the W.M.S. Santa (played by one of the Mis- sion Band members) arrived and gave each child a book and a bag .of candy. - ‘ Church News A very impressive church ser- vice was held on Sunday, Decem- ber 21st. The church was beauti- fuly decorated for the occasion. The choir is to be congratulated for its fine music. Mrs. A. Orr and Miss Nancy Trenka sang a duet. The choir sang two an- thems. Rev. A. F. Binnington’s sermon theme was “Fear Not Mary," which gave everyone food for thought. The beautiful has: ket of flowers was in memory of Mrs. V. Westbrook, placed there by her family. ‘ Candle-Lizht Service The annual Candle-Light serv- ice was held in the'church on Sunday evening. The girls of the C.G.I.T. occupied the choir-loft. The Explorers from Wesley and Vandorf with their leader, Mrs. Powell, and the C.G.I.T. from Markham were guests. Scripture Readings were given by Mrs. Maw, Carol Mortson. Margaret Smith and Susan Terry. The C. G.I.T. sang “Lo, How a Rose.†The Explorers sang “The Huron Carol.†Mrs. John McCague, one of the leaders of the C.G.I.T., gave the story "The Shepherd Who Didn’t Go.†Miss Joy Fuller took the first part of the Candle Lighting service, while Misses Anne Buchanan, Joy Fuller and Margaret Patterson took the sec- ond part. Mrs. Stewart Rumble, leader of the C.G.I.T., directed the service. The church was fill. ed for this impressive service. Sunday School Concert _ The annual Sunday School con- cert was held in the Sunday School room on Tuesday evening. December 23, with Rev. A. F. Binnington in charge. The onen- ing‘ chorus was given by Mrs. S. Boynton’s beginners’ class, with Lorie Mackness giving the ad- dress of welcome. Mrs. P. Ben- nett’s class gave a Flannelgraph of “The First Christmas. Miss Faye Nichols’ class gave “Gifts of Christmas,†recitations by seven children, and sang “Gentle Mary Laid Her Child," with the solo part taken by Miss Sharon Boyn- ton. Miss Betty Hill’s class gave “What Child is This?†Mrs. Mc-‘ Roberts‘ class gave recitations and singing. Mr. Mumberson’s/ class gave recitations also. A play, “The VRoad to Bethlehem,†was given by the‘ teachers and senior members of the Sunday School. Those taking part in the play were Mr. and Mrs. Percy Bennett, Mrs. L. Mumberson. Mrs. S.
