TAYLOR Webster Ronnie Clark, Denham Drive. celebrated his eighth birthday on Saturday, February 14. his parents took him to a hockey game on Friday and he had a few friends in for lunch on Sat- urday. so he had a double cele- bration! Mrs. W. J. Whelan, Scott D12. is having the meeting of Group 5. Thornhill United Church Wo- man's Auxiliary at her home on Tuesday. February 17. Everyone in the area is happy to see that Kenny Mills, Maryvale Cres., is back to school again af- ter his long illness. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Clark. Den- ham Drive, motored up to their cottage at Balm Beach a week ago. They were amazed at the amount of snow that they found. The roads were just like tunnels and the children enjoyed it im- mensely. When they got to their cottage they found three feet of snow and ice on the roof and it took them all day to remove It. Further along the beach one cot< tage was completely covered ‘by snow. On Monday night Richvale School played hockey against Charles Hewitt. Although How- itt won 3-0. the Richvale boy: were playing a much improved game and it is a pity the scoring didn’t reflect this. The fire reels on Spruce Ave- nue were called out to the McIn- tosh home on Birch Avenue on Wednesday near noon, last week, when a wire from the water- heater to the fuse box short-cir- cuited. Apparently the trlpper didn't quite trip far enough to cut off the power and until that was done by a quick-witted neigh- bour, the metal cable covering the wire heated considerably. No damage was done to the walls but several motors of electrical ap- pliances were burned out. Over- loaded circuits were blamed. It was with deep regret that we learned of the death last week of Mr. Alvin R. Michell. President of the Thornhaven Association for Retarded Children, his death is a great loss to the district and to the cause to which he was dedi- CLted. Young slx-year-old Barry Redgewell of Oak Avenue is still in Branson Hospital where he is coming along nicely. Barry was playing on the ice at school when he suffered a broken thigh bone two weeks ago. We all hope you'll be back soon. Barry. Mrs. E.
