The bazaar will differ from other years in the fact that there will be no sewing done for the babies and children’s tables, only knit- ting, as it was felt that the other articles did not sell. Bowling Parties The 2nd Richvale Guides and leaders spent Saturday afternoon February 21, at Unlonville on a skating party, which was enjoyed immensely by all who attended.‘ The class of QC, Thornhill High School, held a bowling party in Richmond Hill on Saturday. The next meeting was dis- cussed and it was decided to postâ€" pone the general meeting for a week to coincide with Education Week. lst Langston Mothers Auxiliary The class of 11A, Thornhill High School, also had a bowling party on Saturday evening and Lynn Hall asked them back to her hnme on Westwood Lane for dancing and refreshments. lst Langstaff Father and Son Banquet The Father and Son Banquet was held on Friday. February 17, the 2nd Richvale Guides held a “Thinking Day” party. Four patrols put on two skits and then the leaders took their turn and acted out a skit. pertaining to Guiding. Hope you are able to eat again soon Janice. ~ Mrs. Jack Jellicoe returned home on Pearson Ave. last week after being confined to the Toron- to General Hospital, and is happy to report that she is up and around again. Flooding Conditions At a recent meeting of the Area Principal’s Association, the prin- cipals expressed concern regard- ing flooding conditions which might occur in our school area. Current reports from flood conâ€" trol officers point out that be- cause of the heavy .snow fall this winter there is a strong likelihood of dangerous flooding ponditions._ In order to ensure the safety of the children, the principals and the child safety committee would ask you to take all possible precautions to avoid serious con- sequences. Since these floods may be of a “flash” variety they would request you to inform the school principal if any hazardous condition arises â€" the principal will inform the proper authority to remedy the condition. The principal would also ask you to remain “on guard" at places where the children experience difficulty in getting to and re- turning home from school. Moved From Area . . Mr. and Mrs. Roy Nelder. Roosevelt D12. moved on Saturday February let to a new house in the southern end of Rexdale to be closer to Orenda. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Williams and son aged 13, moved in from Willowdale as Mr. Assistant Scout Master Bob Bowley resigned from lst Lang- stafi last week with a great deal of regret from him and the Scout Troop. Bob Bowley has been as- sociated with\Scouting for many years. He began as a Cub in Brantford. where he stayed for four years, moved to Welland and Scouting where he became Troop Leader and remained there seven years. His resignation was given because of a back injury he sus- tained in the Army when he was encased in a body cast for three months. As symptoms of the in- jury are re-occuring he is forced to give up the physical activity required of an assistant scout master. ‘ Emmanuel W. A. Williiéms’ business is in Richmond Hill. The neghbours wish the Nel- ders luck in ther new home and {ire welcome the Williams Emmanuel Church At a meeting held in Synod House on Thursday. February 19, the Rector. J. W. Newton-Smith, Bob Webster and Gren Lunau met with Rt. Rev. G. B. Snell, Bi- shop of Toronto, and Arch Deacon Gillings who represent the Church Extension Board of the Anglican Church, to discuss plans for Emmanuel Church in this area. The board officials accepted in principle the plan they sub- mitted for the first wingt’of the church and stated that they would support the building of this church to the greatest possible exâ€" tent and asked the church offic- ials to proceed with their planâ€" ning and report to Synod at an early date. Eighteen girls of the Charles Howitt Student Council twill be present at the Home and School March meeting on Monday, March 2. After a short business meeting the class rooms will be th:own open so that the parents can view their children’s work. The girls will carry refreshments to the classrooms to help out the social convenor of the Home and School and see that everyone is served. Neighbourhood Bowlers At Richvale Public School, the senior house league championship was 'won by the Jinimee Zubec Zoomers against the Howard Martin Maroons. The junior house league championship was won by the Alan Walsh Weasels over the Murray Hunter Huskies. AURORA â€" Mr, C. E. Lundy, former publisher of the “Banner” passed on at Aurora last week. He was 82 years of age. SCHOMBERG -â€" Joe Aston, 20. has been charged with at- tempted murder following the near fatal shooting of Edward Pascoe, 26. Mr. Pascoe was shot as he answered the door. S. Hare on their 58th wedding anniversary which they celebrated February 20. Their two children, Mrs. Frank Breuls and Mr. Fred Hare and their families were happy indeed to be present at this celebration. There are now six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren in this happy family. They enjoyed a quiet time seeing pictures on the screen which the family have taken in the past year or so. These included scenes of a trip taken by Fred and Bessie; the family cottage and surroundings, scenes in the immediate vicinity of Temperanceville and pictures of members of the family. A delightful anniversary tea was serv'ed with a delicious cake made specially for the occasion. We hope that Mr. and Mrs. Hare will continue to enjoy health and happiness through the coming years. ' Approximately 30 persons at- tended the miscellaneous shower in honor of George Gillham and his bride-toâ€"be Patricia. The shower was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Gillham, which had been decorated in pink and white. The happy couple were assisted in the opening of gifts by Mrs. Keith Gillham and Bob Gillham. It is most gratifying to the Sunday School staff to have so many attend Sunday School these cold wintry Sundays. We are most grateful to the parents for seeing that their families attend regularly. Congratulations to Joan Hare who was chosen runner-up for Posture Queen at the Valentine Dance at Aurora High School. As there were two competitors chosen from each room â€"- a boy and a girl â€"â€" the competition was keen. Joan received a lovely heart-shaped box of chocolates as a gift. A number of couples from Temperanceville thoroughly en- joyed the Lions oyster supper at King last week. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Anderson were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Wright of_Newma1'ket. Elaine Paxton. Judith Paxton, David Avard and _Ian Davidson had a very enjoyable evening on the sleigh riding party on the Milton Savage farms. About 25 members and friends of the Work and Worship Club enjoyed this horse-drawn sleigh ride and do- nuts and hot chocolate after- wards. Haskett and associates for a li- cense for a new radio station in town. The mayor sent a letter to C.B.C. Board of Governors in Ottawa expressing his views. The other members of council have gone on record in support of the project.
