Richmond Hill Library Board asked council for a loan of $17,- 500. to complete purchase of shel- ving and equipment. The request was referred to the finance com- mittee on motion of councillor R. P. Ross. A request from the District High School Board for debentures for $30,000. to finish grounds at Woodbridge High School was referred to the same committee. A suggestion by Councillor Bradstock that an advisory com- mittee be appointed to work with the Planning Board will be con- sidered at a joint meeting of council and planning board this week. Councillor Haggart asked for a progress report on the construc- tion of the water treatment plant. Councillor Haggart Police Chairman answered complaints that three policemen were oper- ating the radar speed equipment. Additional equipment has been procured and it will in future be a one man operation. / ‘ Councillor Haggart complained that industrial land in use is as- sessed at $1600 per acre but un- used industrial land is assessed at only $800. per acre. This he said played into the hands of speculators. The assessment commissioner will be asked for a report. Council laid over until ‘next meeting the appointment of a member of the Recreation Com- mission. Deputy-neeve Tinker submitted the names of Al White and Harry Whitaker. Councillor Haggart said the new member should come from east of the tracks. There is now only one member from the east part of the town and Councillor Paterson supported Mr. Haggart’s conten- tion the area was entitled to more representation. Council ag- reed to lay oven the appointment until next meeting. Planning Nearly $700 was raised in cancer drive held in Oak Ridges recently. Thirty-two canvassers blitzed the dis- trict from Saturday. April 11 to Tuesday, April 14.
