It was truly a family affair with varied activities for all ages, from a peanut hunt for the wee toddlers, novelty races and contests, and a ball game to round out the day. Of course the excellent swimming was enjoyed by many, and all sat down to a delicious supper together under lovel_ shade trees beside the lake. Good fun and congeniality key- noted the occasion, with former provincial candidate Stanley Hall of Newmarket. presenting the prizes for the various sporting ev- ents. July 24, 9 year old Stephen Morrison accidently jam- med an unseen needle in the gristle part of his left elbow joint. Unfortunately the force that sent the needle into the arm had also broken it at the skin surface. Attempts by their doctor failed whereupon he was taken to Branson Hospital, here the problem was too great and Steph- en was sent to The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto for sur- gery, He was released the same night with a mighty sore arm. The Canadian Cancer Society is organized in 2000 Canadian com- munities where it carries out edu- cational programmes and gives assistance to cancer patients. It also provides money for research. Friends and neighbours of Mr. Norman Smith, of Morgan ave. are happy to hear that he is re- covering nicely from a serious automobile accident early mor- ning of Friday. July 24.
