l . 'Miss Anne PikeE Weds Noel Astin’ . Rev. J. F. O’Neil officiated at a pretty wedding on Saturday. ‘Sept., 5. 1959. when Miss Anne Pike. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Pike of Horfield. Bristol, Eng- land, became the bride of Noel Austin, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Austin, Portsmouth, England. Miss Berry Anderson was at the organ. Given in marriage by Mr. Stu- art Parker. the bride looked lov- ‘ely in a short white princess style dress with bustle in back; she wore a shoulder length veil and carried a crescent bouquet of white carnations and pink roses. Miss Susanne Austin. niece of the groom, was bridesmaid in a short blue dress and white feaâ€" ther hat, and her bouquet was a nosegay of white carnations and pink roses. Mr. Roy Austin was best man and R. Ross acted as usher. Following the service a recep- tion was given by Mr. and Mrs. S. P. Parker at their home in[ Thornhill where a surprise tele~ phone call was received from the bride's parents in England and a message of ‘good luck' was cab- led from the parents of ‘ the groom. Victoria Square United Church was the scene of a beautiful sum- mer wedding on Saturday after- noon, August 29. 1959. at 3:30 pm. when Margaret Rose Can- ning, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Treanor Canning. was united in marriage with Mr. Robert Neil Mortson eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Mortson. Rev. C. G. Higginson of Richâ€" mond Hill performed the double- ring ceremony amidst a setting of pink and white gladioli with ferns and lighted candelabras. Mrs. Allan Orr, soloist sang "The Lord's Prayer” before the bridal party entered the church, and “Because” during the signing of the register. She was accompan- ied at the organ by Mrs, Jim Barker. The bride, given in marriage by her father. looked lovely in a street-length gown of white taf- feta beneath brocaded lace. Her shoulder-length veil was held with a leaf-shaped headpiece of sequins and pearls. She carried a white prayer-book with a white orchid on it and shell pink roses with streamers of vinca.
