The Brodie family had as din- ner guests on Tuesday evening last, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fisher of Unionvllle and the Hal Acre- mans. The big event last week was Markham Fair with many awards for Headford folk. Don Brodie did well with exhibits of grain and hay; and Cora and Margaret Brodie received honors for their home-making products of jelly, buns, etc., in the cooking section. They also won prizes in the sew- ing classes, as did Elisabeth Ban- ker. Mrs. Geo. Barker won aw- ards horticulturally. Murray Acreman. with several other stock car drivers, spent the weekend attending the champion- ship races at Oswego. New York. School News Mrs. Zimmerman, the Grade 1 teacher. outlined the work she expects to cover during the year, and explained the method of tea- ching numbers and sounds._ Mr. Urquhart reports that two bicycles have been stolen from the school grounds since the be- ginning of school. One was re- covered but the other is still missing. It is suggested to p ents that they be sure the ser 3! number of all bicycles in the home be recorded and that they see that the chlldren have locks for them and lock them at all times. Mrs. M. Charlesworth, Garden Avenue, was hostess for the Oc- tober meeting of the Institute which was well attended.
