Miss Karen‘ Baiter entertained several friends at her birthday party on Wednesday. Special Thanksgiving services were held in our local churches on Sunday. Mr. Victor Britnell spent Thanksgiving at Kirkland Lake. Mrs. C. R. Wilcox left by bus on Thursday night for Wolfeville, Nova Scotia, to be with her son- in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Creelman and their lit- tle baby son, Stephen Gregory, who arrived last Wednesday. Mrs. Frank Bennett entertain- ed a number of children and their mothers in honour of her daugh- ter Sharon’s third birthday on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Merin Hender- son spent the holiday week end at Elim Lodge near Peterborough. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Elliott and Douglas spent Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sherk and family at Preston. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Baxter, Peter and Karen moved on Fri- day to Stoufiville. Mrs. E. C. Wilford of Toronto spent Thanksgiving with her bro- ther-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Britnell. Mr. Ralph Baker underwent a very serious heart operation at Toronto General Hospital on Friday. At the time of wri‘jng_ although Mr. Baker's condition is still very critical, his condition is as well as can be expected. His many friends are very pleased for his progress thus far. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Barton at- tended the Christening of their grandson, Douglas James Barton, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Bar- ton at St. Matthew’s United Chur- ch on Sunday, October 11. Others present were John Barton and Miss Charlotte Gardiner; Mr. and Mrs. Dean Wilson and girls of Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Ash of Edgeley; Bill Ash and Miss Beverley Miller, Woodbrldge, and Mrs. John Ash, Sr. Concord. Sorry to lose one of Catrville's nice neighbours in the person of Mrs. Ley, but she is moving to Almonte or rather going back, as that is the community she was born in. We hope she enoys meeting old acquaintances in her home-town. Young Peoples The Young People of Gan-ville are having a hallowe'en dance at the school on Saturday evening, October 24, everyone is welcome to attend. The ‘Carrville United Church Women's Association held their October meeting at the home of Mrs. J. Baker on Wednesday af- ternoon with 11 ladies present. The treasurer reported 3 bal- ance to date of $207.81. Mrs. Kirk and Mrs. A. Read assisted the hostess with the re- freshments.
