Split-second timing insured that the period when all telephones were "dead" was kept to a minimum. Maple’s cutover to dial tele- phone service occurred without incident Sunday morning, report- ed W. C; Barnes, Bell manager here, in expressing his thanks to Maple,residents for their co-op- eration. The two-minute cutover op- eration culminated ‘ nearly two years of planning and prepara- tion. Mapie residents aided the op- eration considerably by refrain- ing from placing curiosity calls at the time of the cutover, said Mr. Barnes. “It was scheduled for 2 am. because a minimum of calling is done at that time," he explained. Thanks to the good behaviour of the boys and girls, everything went off very smoothly. Hallowe'en Parties were the Ma der of the afternoon throughout the school on Friday. Every class had a party and there was a Cos- tume \ Parade throughout each room so that all could see the variety of costumes. There'was no damage done at the school over Hallowe'en week- end and we hope that all the children received their share of treats and had fun. 57 girls and boys at the school took U. N. I. C. E. F. boxes with them on their travels. It is nice to know that in the midst of their fun, they are thinking of the less fortunate children in other lands.
