Logan Varey showed pictures which he took on his summer vacation in the Holy Land and were very much enjoy- ed by all the ladies present. Mrs. H. Andrews moved a hearty vote of thanks to Mr. Varey. At the close of the meeting, dainty re- freshments were served by the social convenor, Mrs. L. The program was led by the president, Mrs. Shir- ley Patterson. The Fortnighters’ choir. made up of Mrs. Alice Chambers, Mrs. Shirley Patter- son. Mrs. Shirley Jamieson Mrs. Jean Arnott, Mrs. Mary MacKay and Mrs. Emma Brown, sang sev- eral carols with Mrs. Mary Boyd at the piano. Mr. Chambers made a jolly Santa who distributed gifts to the 33 members present. _ The Men’s Club of Thornhill Presbyterian Church held their December meeting at the church on December 8. This was the ï¬rst meeting conducted by the new executive and they were much gratiï¬ed to have 69 men present, the largest meeting the group has ever had. It was “Get to Know Your Church" night and the mee- ting was conducted by the presi- dent, Mr. Jack Maver. Mr. Jan Kok introduced the men of the Session in a very amusing way Mr Jack MacKay introduced the Board of Managers and Mr. Alex Brown spoke about the work of the Sunday School. December 13, members of the Sunday School, in costume, presented a beautiful tableau de- picting the coming of the shep- herds and wise men bringing gifts to the’ Baby Jesus. This was narrated by. Mr. Wm. McGowan, the Sunday School superinten- dent. A lovely solo “What Child is This†was sung by Miss Nancy Wilson. The children then pres‘ ented their gifts and sang "‘Away in a Mangerâ€.
