The lone Richmond Hill goal was scored by John Bookala-m as- sisted by Gary Charity. The line of Bookalam, Charity and Shep- herd continues to be the most productive forward line for the Richmond Hill team. The defence combo of David Walsh and Rob- by Cropp is the most effective defensive unit. Penalties played a big part in the outcome of the game as Au- rora scored goals when Bob Lelshman _an~d Norm McLeod were serving time in the sin-bin. Richmond Hill Putters 2 Brampton Squirts 1 Aurora Peewees 5 Richmond Hill Peewees l The Richmond Hill Pee Wee team got a bad game out of their system last Friday night as they bowed to Aurora by a ï¬ve to one count. Despite the score, Richmond Hill goal keeper Bill McVean, played an out- standing game and only his stel- lar play kept the score from mounting higher} After only three practice sesâ€" sions the Reg. Acomb sponsored Squirts invaded Brampton for their first game and came home wearing a Brampton scalp. The kids gave a crowd pleasing dis- play of hockey with Midge Hiley quickly winning spectators ac- claim for his outstanding efforts. The Richmond Hill goals were scored by Gary Methe assisted by Jimmy Wilson. The second Richmond Hill goal was scored by Dave Brodrick on a very fine solo effort. Goal keeping duties were shar- ed by Ron Hogarth and Rod Lof- tus with both boys being effec- tive in the nets. Wayne Harring- ton sbarred on defence with a very steady game. 7 The effervescent Bob Ritchie came up with another shut-out in the Richmoni‘ Hill goal as he locked the door in his inimitable acrobatic style. This boy really manages to rove around in the net as if he were equipped with springs. ' Richmond Hill Bantams 2 Woodbridge 0 Anthony Crack scored the first goal for the Richmond Hill team and missed on two clean break- aways as he tried to blast the puck through and not past the Woodbrldge goalie. The second goal was scored by Ricky Bradshaw on a nice solo effort as Rick seems to improve from game to game. Richmond Hill Bantams 4 Aurora 1 Forty seconds after the refer- ee had dropped the puck for the initial ï¬aceoff, Jimmy Lawson had parked it in the corner of the Aurora goal with some as- sistance from Bill Adams and Anthony Crack. Two minutes lat- or Bill Adams scored again with an assist from Jimmy La\vson. Actually the ‘score should have been much greater but the local’s shooting was very erratic at times. Denny Richard- son was the big gun as he turn- ed his first hat trick of the sea- son and popped in 3 goals as well as doing a standout job at killing penalties. He played on a line with Bruce Walker and Dean Wainwright and this line counted for four of the six goals. Walker although having a hard time to find the net this season set up some beautiful plays to help the cause. John Grieves got a single on a nice effort and big John Moorehead got one on a break- away. Both King City scores were by Barry Taylor who played well for the opposition all night. Al- though there is a big improve- ment in the local club, manager Ernie Brennan is fear from sat- isfied with their efforts and calls for more back checking by the forwards. With only one minute left in the game, Bob Ritchie was rob- bed of a shut-out as an Aurora shot deflected into the Richmond Hill net off a Richmond Hill de- fenceman giving Ritchie no chance to cover up. Blueliners 6 King City 2 registered the third Richmond Hill tally with Jimmy Dawson being the man who initially trig- gered the scoring play. Bradshaw scored the fourth and final Rich- mond Hill goal from Bill'Adams and Mike Howard. Blueliners 5 Barrie All Stars 3 _ Local sportsman, Ted Terry, sponsor of the Blueline midget hockey club was pleased with the showing of hls team last Wed- nesday night ï¬t they topped a strong Barrie m dget A club by two goals. It was a pleasing game to watch with both teams playing hard, fast clean hockey. The Barrie team opened the scoring on a nice goal by Jimmy Keith after 2 minutes of play. But the Richmond Hill club tightened up their defense and played sound hockey from then 01.. Johnny Grieves got three goals, Sandy Keith one and Den- nis Richardson the other, for the Blueliners. The big line was, John Gries, Jim Briden and Sandy Keith who played well and back checked like fiends to hold the strong skating Barrie team to only two more counters. Don Laurie played well in goal for two periods, and Dave Sims played the last period allowing two goals. Only four penalties were called in this clean fast ,hard fought contest. The other Barrie goals were scored by Ed .Fisher and defense star Mooney. ‘edu performers are shown above ready for action: left to right Garry Charity, Scott Sheppard and John ‘Bookalam. ’ â€"- Photo by Lagerquist Pal Greenï¬eld Jimmy Keith Friday, January 15th will be a big, big hockey show in Rich- mond Hill Arena. The basketball teams, Midget, Junior_ and Sen- ior, held their first practice on Monday, January 4th and played their first games on Friday, Jan. uary the eighth, against Rich- mond Hill High. The midget team lost to the Richmond Hill squad, but the junior team defeated Richmond Hill in a squeaker 34-32. Bob Howes was very prominent for 'the Thornhill junior team as the big boy is rather hard to contain. The Thornhill Senior Team de- feated Richmond Hill Seniors by a decisive 52-36 score with Cliff Nuttall being the big gun for the Thornhill team. Coach Charlie Seath was for- tunate indeed, in that his senior team is pretty much the same team that took to the courts last year to do or die for Thornhill High.
