Guides and Brownies First Concord Guides and Brownies will take part in the annual Thornhill District church parade, commemorating the anâ€" niversary of Lord Badcn- Pow- ell‘s birthday. Known as Thinking Day. the date of his birth is ac- tually February 22, and a Sunday close to this date is chosen for the parade. This year the parade will be held at Thornhill Presby- terian Church at 3 p.m. next Sun- day. February 28. All parents of the girls as well as anyone else who is interested may attend. Reeve John Perry has consent- ed to speak at their first open meeting. on Tuesday. March 15, at 8 p.m. at Maple Community Hall. February 17. 1960. Collingwood was hard hit by this storm and even old residents couldn‘t remember when they had ever witnessed such high drifts. These complete- ly blocked off all roads so that no one could get throuin to atâ€" tend the funeral on Saturday and it regretfully became necessary to postpone the service until Sunday when even then it was impossible to complete in its en- tii‘ety. We are all glad she is home again and wish her a speedy re- covery. Local residents returning from work on Monday evening found they had to make a detour at John St. owing to some box cars from a freight train being off the track on the C. N. R. line here. Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Aston. Church Street Langstafl‘ Ont. Canada. enjoyed a visit to Sar- asota Jungle Gardens during their recent vacation on the Sun Coast of Florida. The visitors mingled with flamingos and oth- er exotic wildfowl, roaming free- ly amid Florida's finest scenery. Other points of interest in Jungle Gardens were huge Royal Palms bordering jungle trails hundreds of colorful tropical plants, and brilliant macaws which pose with visitors for pic- tures. Neighbourhood Notes Last Friday night Anthony Cappy stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Morison in Victoria Square along with seventeen others when they became stranded in the snow storm. McFee and family went to Orangeville on Sunday to see their niece Marion Mche of Hillsburgh who was ir- jured in the school bus accidcnt some weeks ago.
